Payroll Manager – Mumbai / Chennai

· Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field with 10+ years of experience in payroll (Inhouse) processing, payroll operations, or payroll accounting.

- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Income Tax/TDS, gratuity, bonus, etc.).
- Good understanding of Finance and Accounting
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel (Macros, Lookups, Pivot Tables, formulas), Power BI/PowerPoint, and payroll/HRMS systems.
- Solid analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within tight payroll deadlines.

· Experience managing multi-location payroll, vendor coordination, payroll audits, and process automation initiatives is preferred.

· Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for employees (salary, incentives, reimbursements, deductions) with high accuracy and within defined timelines.

· Review and validate employee master data (new joiners, exits, salary revisions, promotions, bank details, tax declarations) in HRMS/payroll systems.

· Oversee payroll inputs from attendance/leave systems and coordinate with HR/Operations teams for exception handling and cut-off adherence.

· Review payroll outputs, conduct variance analysis, and provide final payroll validation before salary disbursement.

· Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, PT, LWF, gratuity, bonus,



and Income Tax/TDS, including timely filings, challans, and reconciliations.

· Manage quarterly/annual TDS filings and ensure compliance with all payroll-related statutory regulations.

· Prepare and review payroll reports including salary registers, variance analysis, cost center reports, headcount reports, and management dashboards.

· Partner with Finance on payroll accounting, reconciliations, accruals, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll cost analysis.

· Oversee full and final settlements, gratuity calculations, leave encashment, and exit-related payroll processes.

· Manage employee queries related to payroll, tax, deductions, payslips, and payroll policies while ensuring timely resolution.

· Manage relationships with external payroll vendors and ensure adherence to service levels and data confidentiality standards.

· Support internal and external audits by maintaining payroll documentation, controls, and compliance records.

· Drive payroll process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.

· The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely salary processing, statutory compliance, payroll governance, and employee pay data management.

· This role works closely with HR, Compliance, Finance, business teams, and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll execution, strong controls, and effective payroll reporting while driving process improvements and maintaining compliance.
