Olympiad Teacher (Mathematics / Science- Grades 8 & 9), Avanti Fellows The Role:
The Olympiad Teacher is responsible for preparing Grade 8 and 9 students for national and international Mathematics/Science Olympiads through engaging, concept-driven instruction and rigorous problem-solving practice.
Beyond classroom teaching, the role involves developing high-quality academic content, creating worksheets and assessments, reviewing learning materials, and continuously improving the academic experience for students. The Olympiad Teacher works closely with the academic team to build a strong foundation in higher-order thinking, analytical reasoning, and competitive problem solving.
What You'll Actually Do:
This role is centered around inspiring students to think deeply, solve creatively, and enjoy challenging problems. You will:

Develop Academic Content
● Create high-quality worksheets, assignments, practice sets, and learning resources aligned with Olympiad standards.
● Develop challenging problems that strengthen conceptual understanding and logical reasoning.
● Continuously improve existing academic content based on student performance and feedback.
Design and Review Assessments
● Create question papers, mock tests, quizzes, and diagnostic assessments.
● Review and validate assessment content to ensure accuracy, quality, and appropriate difficulty levels.
● Analyze student performance to identify learning gaps and recommend academic interventions.
Support Academic Excellence
● Stay updated with Olympiad syllabi, examination patterns, and emerging trends.
● Collaborate with the academic team to improve curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional resources.
● Contribute ideas that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Who We're Looking For:

Experience
● At least 2 years of experience teaching Mathematics/Science, preferably with exposure to Olympiad or other competitive examinations.
● Experience teaching middle school students (Grades 6–10) is preferred.
● Experience in content creation or assessment design is an added advantage.
Skills
● Strong subject knowledge and excellent problem-solving ability.
● Ability to simplify complex concepts and make learning engaging.
● Strong written communication skills for creating academic content.
● High attention to detail while reviewing worksheets and assessments.
● Ability to inspire curiosity and independent thinking among students.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline (depending on the subject role).
● Proficiency in English and Tamil.
What Probably Won't Work:
This role may not be a valuable fit if you:
● Prefer teaching by following textbooks without exploring challenging concepts.
● Are uncomfortable solving advanced or unfamiliar problems independently.
● Do not enjoy creating academic content and assessments.
● Prefer routine teaching over continuously improving lessons and instructional materials.
● Are uncomfortable receiving and incorporating feedback to improve teaching and content quality.
Why This Role Matters:
Olympiads help students develop analytical thinking, creativity, and confidence far beyond the classroom.
By preparing students for these challenging competitions, the Olympiad Teacher nurtures curiosity, strengthens problem-solving abilities, and builds a strong academic foundation for future success in STEM.
Success in this role directly contributes to creating confident learners who are equipped to tackle complex challenges and pursue excellence in competitive academics.
