What you'll do

- Work with application and infrastructure teams to review logs, identify status codes and response times, and build queries to pull data from Elasticsearch, Splunk, and Azure Application Insights
- Onboard SLOs into Watermelon using both out-of-the-box connectors and custom Kafka pipelines
- Build Python scripts and queries to extract telemetry from different log-based data sources for ingestion into Watermelon
- Configure metric mappings, host metadata, service relationships, and dashboards in Watermelon
- Design SLO-based user journeys combining data from multiple sources
- Validate that ingested data and dashboards are accurate; troubleshoot data and mapping issues
- Understand and apply core SRE concepts: SLOs, SLIs, and Error Budgets • Document monitoring standards, KPIs, and onboarding guides
- Work with application teams in an advisory capacity to improve logging patterns

Must-have skills

- Solid grasp of application monitoring, including log-based platforms and at least one of the industry-leading APM tools




- Working experience of infrastructure monitoring across: servers (Windows/Linux), VMs, cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, network devices, firewalls/load balancers, storage, and databases
- Working knowledge of Elasticsearch/Elastic Stack and/or Splunk and/or Azure Application Insights
- Python or query building for telemetry extraction and transformation
- Experience with Kafka (or similar messaging systems)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Exposure to Splunk, Azure Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry

Nice to have

- Comfort with JSON, REST APIs, and telemetry integration pattern

- Can engage directly with customers on observability strategy and onboarding
- Robust communication skills
- Translates operational requirements into working dashboards
