About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Firewall & Network Security Engineer to manage, configure, secure, and troubleshoot our network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with pfSense or OPNsense, network security, firewall policies, VPNs, VLANs, routing, NAT, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

You will work closely with our infrastructure/DevOps team to maintain a secure and reliable network environment and help us improve our overall network security architecture.

Key Responsibilities

- Firewall Management

Configure and manage pfSense / OPNsense firewalls.

Create and maintain firewall rules and security policies.

Configure

Port Forwarding

Outbound NAT

Review and optimize existing firewall rules.

Troubleshoot firewall connectivity and security issues.

Maintain secure firewall configurations and backups.

2. Network Security

Design and implement secure network architecture.

Configure network segmentation using VLANs.

Implement appropriate security controls between:

LAN

Server Network

Management Network

Guest Network

RDP/VDI Network

Development Network

Identify and mitigate network security risks.

Follow least-privilege principles when designing firewall rules.

3. VPN

Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting:

WireGuard

OpenVPN

IPsec

Site-to-Site VPN

Remote Access VPN

VPN routing and firewall policies

4. Routing & Networking





Robust understanding of

TCP/IP

IPv4 / IPv6

Subnetting

DHCP

DNS

ARP

Routing

Static Routes

Policy-Based Routing

WAN/LAN architecture

Experience with MikroTik is a strong advantage.

5. Firewall Security & Monitoring

Monitor firewall logs and network traffic.

Investigate suspicious traffic and connection attempts.

Configure firewall logging and alerting.

Analyze bandwidth and traffic patterns.

Troubleshoot packet drops and connectivity problems.

Implement IDS/IPS where appropriate.

Experience with Suricata / Snort is a plus.

Configure secure DNS and DNS filtering where required.
