Role Description The Merchandiser at Aires will be responsible for planning, selecting, and displaying footwear assortments to maximize sales and brand impact in retail locations. This full-time, on-site role based in Delhi, India involves analyzing sales data, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating with store teams to ensure product availability and visual consistency. The Merchandiser will collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align product presentation with promotional campaigns and seasonal launches.
Daily tasks include reviewing product performance, updating planograms, training store staff on key product features, and maintaining a strong understanding of customer preferences and market trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan seasonal product ranges across sports apparel and footwear categories.
- Develop merchandise plans based on sales targets, consumer demand, market trends and brand positioning.
- Analyse sales, stock levels, sell-through, margins and product performance.
- Recommend replenishment, markdowns, stock transfers and discontinuation of slow-moving products.
- Determine product mix, colourways, size ratios, pricing architecture and launch quantities.
- Monitor inventory to reduce stock-outs, overstocking and ageing inventory.
- Coordinate with design and product development teams to ensure collections are commercially viable.
- Work with sourcing and production teams to track samples,
costing, purchase orders and delivery timelines.
- Maintain range plans, line sheets, pricing sheets and product master data.
- Support go-to-market calendars and ensure products are ready for seasonal and campaign launches.
- Collaborate with retail, e-commerce, sales and marketing teams on product availability and promotional planning.
- Conduct competitor research covering products, pricing, materials, technologies and market trends.
- Prepare weekly and monthly merchandise reports for management.
- Provide product insights and recommendations for future collections.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, Business, Marketing or a related field.
- 2–5 years of merchandising experience, preferably in sportswear, footwear, fashion or lifestyle products.
- Strong understanding of assortment planning, inventory management, pricing and retail mathematics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to interpret sales data and translate it into commercial decisions.
- Good understanding of apparel and footwear product development cycles.
- Robust coordination, negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple timelines.
- Familiarity with ERP, inventory management or retail planning software is preferred.
- An interest in sports, performance products and consumer trends is an advantage.
