Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and maintaining clear communication with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management, improve cash flow, and enhance patient satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and possesses a robust understanding of medical coding, insurance procedures, and billing software systems.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Review patient records to verify the accuracy of diagnoses and procedures, applying ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG classifications as appropriate.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and communicate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, including medical records, claim status updates, and correspondence with payers.




- Assist patients with billing inquiries by providing clear explanations of charges and insurance coverage details while delivering excellent customer service.
- Stay updated on healthcare claims management policies, health insurance regulations, and coding guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation for accurate coding and billing processes.
- Working hours are 8am to 5pm Pacific Time.

Experience

- Proven experience in medical billing or medical office administration with a strong understanding of medical terminology and records management.
- Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, DRG classifications, and healthcare claims management processes.
- Experience working with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, medical coding standards, and medical collection procedures is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience billing for the orthopedic medical specialty.
