Role Description: The Mechanical Engineer Trainee – Fire Safety will support Industrial Fire Safety Audits, Fire Protection system technical design, and supervision of on-site work execution in a full time, on-site role based in Puducherry, India. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with Industrial Fire Safety Audits for Fire NOC, Supervision of installation, testing and maintenance works of Fire Protection systems (such as hydrant, sprinkler, foam, and clean agent systems), reviewing mechanical layouts for compliance with relevant codes,
and supporting risk assessments from a mechanical engineering perspective. The trainee will help prepare engineering drawings and reports, coordinate data collection during site audits, and contribute to system adequacy evaluations and emergency preparedness planning.
The role involves working closely with senior engineers to learn applicable standards, support project management activities, and ensure accurate, well-structured deliverables for clients and statutory authorities. The position offers hands-on exposure to fire safety engineering in industrial, commercial, and institutional environments.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to apply core principles to fire safety and industrial systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for preparing and reviewing mechanical drawings and layouts is preferred.
- Ability to assist in Project Management activities, including planning tasks, tracking progress, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Interest and aptitude in Research and Development (R&D;) for improving fire safety solutions, methodologies, and system performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent discipline (fresh graduates or early-career professionals are encouraged to apply).
- Basic understanding of fire protection systems and safety standards (NBC, BIS, NFPA, or similar) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
