- Mechanical Design Intern All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) - Design & Development
- Location:Bengaluru, Karnataka
- Duration: 6 Months Stipend: As per company standards
- Department: Mechanical Engineering & Vehicle Design
- Reporting To: Lead Design Engineer
- Openings: 6
- About Dhash Defense Systems: Dhash Defense Systems is a Bengaluru-based defence technology company specialising in the design and engineering of rugged, mission-critical vehicles and systems for defence and paramilitary applications. Our engineering teams work at the intersection of advanced mechanical design, embedded systems, and field-ready manufacturing to deliver world-class solutions for India's national security requirements.
- Role Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Design Intern to join our All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) development programme.
- The intern will work hands-on with our core engineering team on the design, simulation, and development of ATV systems — from conceptual layouts through to fabrication-ready drawings. This is a high-impact role offering real-world exposure to defencegrade vehicle engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the conceptual design and detailed design of ATV chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and body structural components.
- Create and refine 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks / CATIA / Fusion 360.
- Conduct static and agile structural analysis using FEA tools (Creo) and iterate designs based on results.
- Support selection and integration of mechanical sub-systems including suspension geometry, steering linkages, braking systems, and wheel-axle assemblies.
- Assist in GD&T; specification, tolerance analysis, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to validate prototypes; participate in shop-floor assembly and testing activities.
- Maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, design logs, revision histories, and test reports.
- Research emerging materials, manufacturing processes, and competitive benchmarks relevant to off-road and defence vehicle applications.
- Support testing on rough terrain — recording performance data, identifying failure modes, and feeding insights back into design.
Educational Qualification
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or closely related discipline (final year / pre-final year students eligible).
- Candidates pursuing M.Tech / M.E. in relevant specialisations are also welcome to apply.
Technical
Skills
- Proficiency in at least one CAD platform: Creo
- Working knowledge of engineering drawing standards and GD&T.;
- Familiarity with FEA concepts and simulation tools is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of vehicle dynamics principles — suspension kinematics, chassis loads, drivetrain layout.
- Exposure to fabrication processes: welding, sheet metal forming, CNC machining — is desirable.
