Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Earth Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of heavy earthmoving, scrap handlers and construction equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and dump trucks. The role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all equipment is in optimal working condition to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Repair: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on a variety of heavy construction, scrap handlers and earthmoving equipment.

Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.

Component Replacement: Replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriages.

Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, ensuring that equipment is serviced before breakdowns occur.

Safety Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance work complies with safety standards and regulations.





Record Keeping: Maintain detailed service records for all work performed and provide reports to supervisors.

Key Requirements:

Education Qualifications

o Completion of an apprenticeship or trade qualification in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field.

o Relevant certifications (e.g., welding, hydraulics, etc.) preferred.

Experience:

o Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy machinery.

o Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in earth-moving equipment.

o Experience with diagnostic tools and repair techniques.

Skills Competencies:

o Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

o Solid understanding of safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

o Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

o Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in diagnostics and repair.

o Good communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and clients.
