1. JOB PURPOSE
To provide safe, ethical, and effective medical care to patients; assess and diagnose patients; initiate appropriate treatment; monitor patient progress; and coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA.
Patient
Assessment &
- Clinical Care
- Examine and assess patients admitted to the ward, OPD, or emergency department.
- Take detailed medical history and perform appropriate physical examination.
- Assess and prioritize patients according to the severity of their condition.
- Formulate provisional diagnoses and initiate appropriate management.
- Monitor vital signs, clinical condition, investigations, and treatment response.
- Review patients regularly and modify treatment as clinically indicated.
- Identify deteriorating patients and initiate timely intervention.
B. Emergency &
- Critical Care Support
- Attend to medical emergencies promptly.
- Provide initial management of emergencies and initiate Basic/Advanced Life Support as appropriate to training and hospital protocols.
- Stabilize patients and arrange referral/transfer when required.
- Inform the concerned consultant promptly regarding serious or deteriorating patients.
- Participate in emergency response and resuscitation procedures.
C. Investigations &
- Treatment
- Order appropriate laboratory, radiological, and other diagnostic investigations.
- Interpret investigation reports within the scope of competence.
- Prescribe medicines and treatments appropriately.
- Monitor for adverse drug reactions and complications.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of treatment and clinical decisions.
D. Coordination with Consultants &
- Healthcare Team
- Coordinate patient care with consultants and specialists.
- Communicate relevant clinical information during rounds and handovers.
- Work closely with nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and other departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions when required.
- Ensure continuity of care during shift changes.
E. Documentation &
- Medical Records
- Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records.
- Document clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment plans, progress notes, and procedures.
- Complete admission, discharge, referral, and transfer documentation.
- Maintain proper records of emergency cases and medico-legal cases as applicable.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.
F. Patient &
- Attendant Communication
- Explain diagnosis, treatment plans, investigations, and procedures to patients/attendants appropriately.
- Provide clear instructions regarding medication, follow-up, and warning signs.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with patients and their families.
- Obtain informed consent wherever required as per hospital policy.

Infection
Control &
- Patient Safety
- Follow hospital infection prevention and control policies.
- Maintain hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
- Follow medication safety and patient identification protocols.
- Report adverse events, incidents, and patient safety concerns promptly.
- Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols, and ethical standards.
H. Administrative &
- Quality Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement activities, and hospital training programs.
- Attend departmental meetings and educational sessions.
- Follow duty rosters, attendance requirements, and hospital policies.
- Maintain professional conduct and comply with applicable medical regulations.
- Assist in implementation of NABH/quality standards and other applicable healthcare requirements.

1. ACCOUNTABILITY
The MBBS Doctor/Medical Officer is accountable for:
- Quality and safety of medical care provided within their scope of practice.
- Timely assessment and management of patients.
- Appropriate escalation of responsible or deteriorating cases.
- Accurate medical documentation.
- Compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and applicable professional regulations.
- Maintaining professional standards and patient confidentiality.
1. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shift duties, including day/night duties, as per hospital roster.
- May be required to work in OPD, wards, emergency, or other clinical areas.
- May be required to attend emergency calls and manage urgent clinical situations.
- Must maintain professional conduct and patient confidentiality at all times.
Pay: ₹2,000.00 - ₹2,200.00 per day
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Zirakpur, Punjab (Zirakpur)
