Role & responsibilities

1. Material Planning & Production Support

- Develop and execute material plans based on production schedules, customer demand, MRP requirements, and inventory levels.
- Ensure timely availability of paints, pigments, solvents, thinners, chemicals, consumables, packaging materials, and other critical items.
- Coordinate closely with Production, PPC, Procurement, Quality, Maintenance, and Stores teams to prevent material shortages and production interruptions.
- Monitor daily material availability and resolve shortages on priority.
- Maintain appropriate safety stock and reorder levels for critical materials.
- Plan materials considering lead time, MOQ, shelf life, consumption trends, and supplier capacity.

1. Inventory Management

- Monitor and control raw material, WIP, consumable, and finished-goods inventory.
- Drive inventory reduction without affecting production continuity.
- Establish and monitor Min/Max, safety stock, reorder point, and inventory norms.
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices, particularly for paints, chemicals, and shelf-life-sensitive materials.
- Identify slow-moving, non-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory and develop action plans.
- Improve inventory accuracy through cycle counting and periodic physical verification.

1. Logistics Management

- Manage inbound logistics and ensure timely movement of materials from suppliers to the plant.
- Coordinate vehicle planning, route planning, delivery schedules, and transporter performance.
- Optimize transportation costs and improve vehicle utilization.
- Monitor delivery adherence and resolve delays, damages, shortages, and documentation issues.
- Develop contingency plans for critical material and logistics disruptions.
- Ensure effective material flow from receiving/warehouse areas to the Paint Shop.

1. Warehouse & Stores Management

- Manage warehouse and stores operations, including receiving, inspection coordination, storage, preservation, picking, and line feeding.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for paints, chemicals, solvents,



and other hazardous/shelf-life-sensitive materials.
- Maintain accurate stock records and system transactions.
- Improve warehouse space utilization and material handling practices.
- Ensure proper identification, traceability, segregation, and labeling of materials.
- Drive 5S and visual management within warehouse and material handling areas.

1. Supplier Coordination

- Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers for delivery schedules and material availability.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance, shortages, quality issues, and lead-time adherence.
- Conduct regular supplier follow-ups for critical and long-lead materials.
- Support supplier development and corrective-action initiatives.
- Maintain supplier performance metrics such as OTD, shortages, lead time, and responsiveness.

1. Systems & Data Management

- Ensure effective utilization of SAP
- Maintain accurate master data, including lead times, MOQ, safety stock, and planning parameters.
- Develop daily/weekly/monthly MIS and management dashboards.

1. Cost Reduction & Continuous Improvement

- Identify and implement opportunities for material and logistics cost reduction.
- Reduce material handling, transportation, storage, and inventory carrying costs.
- Lead Kaizen, process improvement, and waste-reduction initiatives.
- Establish standard operating procedures and improve planning and logistics processes.

1. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with plant safety, environmental, and statutory requirements related to material storage and transportation.
- Ensure secure handling and storage of paints, solvents, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
- Maintain proper documentation, MSDS/SDS availability, labeling, segregation, and emergency-response practices.
- Ensure compliance with company quality and EHS standards.

1. Team Management

- Lead and develop the Material Planning, Stores, Warehouse, and Logistics team.
- Plan manpower and allocate responsibilities effectively.
- Train team members on planning systems, inventory control, Lean practices, safety, and material handling.
