Job Summary:

We are looking for a Manager – Insurance & Claims with a minimum of Ten years of experience in handling marine insurance policies, claims management, and liaising with underwriters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cargo insurance, hull & machinery policies, and P&I; (Protection & Indemnity) claims, along with a deep understanding of marine risk assessment and claims resolution.

This role involves managing insurance policies, processing claims efficiently, ensuring compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with insurers, brokers, and P&I; clubs to optimize coverage and reduce financial exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

- Insurance Policy Administration:

- Manage and oversee marine insurance policies, including cargo, hull & machinery, and P&I; coverage.
- Ensure all vessels and cargo shipments have adequate insurance coverage aligned with business requirements.
- Negotiate competitive premiums and policy terms with brokers, underwriters, and P&I; clubs.
- Conduct periodic reviews of insurance policies to ensure they align with evolving risks.

2. Claims Handling & Settlement:

- Manage cargo claims, hull damage claims, third-party liability, and general average incidents.
- Liaise with underwriters, surveyors, loss adjusters, and legal teams to ensure efficient claims processing.
- Evaluate claim documentation, negotiate settlements, and ensure timely payouts to minimize financial impact.




- Track and analyze claim trends and implement preventive measures to mitigate future risks.

3. Risk Management & Loss Prevention:

- Assess marine risks associated with cargo operations, vessel management, and logistics.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the operations team.
- Work with shipowners, charterers, and cargo handlers to improve claims history and reduce insurance costs.

4. Compliance & Documentation:

- Ensure adherence to marine insurance regulations, international conventions, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of insurance policies, claims history, and risk assessments.
- Prepare detailed reports on insurance coverage, claim settlements, and risk exposure for senior management.

5. Stakeholder Management & Coordination:

- Act as the key liaison between the company, insurers, brokers, and P&I; clubs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance underwriters for better policy terms and claims support.
- Provide internal training to relevant departments on marine insurance best practices and risk management.

Key Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Maritime Studies, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.




- Professional certifications such as ACII (Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute), FIII (Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India), or equivalent will be advantageous.

Experience & Industry Knowledge:

- Minimum 7 years of experience in marine insurance, focusing on claims handling, underwriting, and risk management.
- Robust understanding of marine risks, cargo insurance, hull & machinery policies, and P&I; coverage.
- Familiarity with global marine insurance markets, including Lloyd’s, International Group of P&I; Clubs, and Institute Cargo Clauses.
- Proven experience in managing marine claims adjusters, underwriters, brokers, and legal teams.
