Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager for the Steel Melting Shop is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities related to equipment and facilities within the SMS to ensure productive operation and minimal downtime.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning and Execution

1. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans for all equipment in the SMS, including induction furnaces, ladles, transformers, water cooling systems, etc.
2. Coordinate with production and operations teams to schedule maintenance activities during planned shutdowns to minimize production downtime. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during maintenance activities.

Team Management:
1. Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers, technicians, and contractors.
2. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and conduct performance evaluations.

3. Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
5. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues to minimize downtime.

6. Analyze root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
7. Implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability.

Budgeting and Cost Control:

1. Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget.

Optimize maintenance expenditures while ensuring adequate spare parts inventory and resources for effective maintenance operations.

Technical Support and Training:
1. Provide technical support to maintenance team members and collaborate with engineering and technical support teams as needed.
2. Conduct training programs for maintenance personnel to enhance skills and knowledge.

3. Documentation and Reporting:
4. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment history, repairs, and inspections.
5. Prepare regular reports on maintenance performance, downtime analysis, and improvements.

Continuous Improvement:
1. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings through better maintenance practices, equipment upgrades, or technology advancements.
2. Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies and participate in SMS improvement projects.

Skills:
1. Strong technical knowledge of steel melting shop equipment and processes.
2. Excellent leadership and managerial skills.
3. Problem-solving and analytical abilities.

4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
