LabWare LIMS Lead
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced LabWare LIMS Lead with 8–10 years of hands-on experience in LabWare LIMS implementation, development, customization, integration, and production support. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and solution ownership for LabWare LIMS initiatives, working closely with laboratory, business, IT, and other cross-functional teams.
The LabWare LIMS Lead will be responsible for architecting solutions, leading development and implementation activities, driving system enhancements, managing integrations and providing technical guidance to the LIMS team. The role requires a strong combination of LabWare LIMS expertise, leadership capability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable and compliant technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. LabWare LIMS Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise for LabWare LIMS design, development, implementation, customization, and support.
- Own the technical solution design and ensure alignment with business, laboratory, and enterprise architecture requirements.
- Lead the development and implementation of LabWare LIMS configurations, workflows, modules, enhancements, and customizations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to LabWare LIMS developers and team members.
2. LabWare LIMS Development & Customization
- Lead the design, development, configuration, and customization of LabWare LIMS solutions based on business and laboratory requirements.
- Develop and maintain LabWare workflows, modules, scripts, interfaces, and system configurations.
- Design and develop custom reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and other LIMS capabilities.
- Analyze existing solutions and identify opportunities for optimization, automation, standardization, and performance improvement.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with organizational standards.
3. System Integration & Architecture
- Lead integration of LabWare LIMS with laboratory and enterprise applications, including ERP, CDS, Empower, and other systems.
- Design and oversee integrations using APIs, web services, XML, database interfaces, and other integration technologies.
- Collaborate with enterprise/application architects and technical teams to define integration architecture and data flows.
- Troubleshoot complex integration issues and provide root-cause analysis and long-term solutions.
- Ensure secure, reliable, and accurate exchange of data across integrated systems.
4. Requirements & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with laboratory users, business stakeholders, QA, validation and other teams to understand business and operational requirements.
- Lead requirement analysis and translate business needs into functional and technical LIMS solutions.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for LabWare LIMS-related initiatives.
- Participate in workshops, solution discussions, design reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
- Communicate technical concepts and solution approaches effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, issues, and escalations related to LIMS projects.
5. Validation, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure LabWare LIMS solutions comply with applicable GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and other relevant regulatory and quality requirements.
- Lead or support LIMS validation activities, including requirements, risk assessments, test strategy, test cases, defect management, and validation documentation.
- Ensure appropriate change control, configuration management, testing, and release processes are followed.
- Review and maintain technical documentation, including architecture/design documents, configuration specifications, interface specifications, test documentation, and support procedures.
- Collaborate with QA and validation teams during audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
6. Team Leadership & Delivery
- Provide day-to-day technical direction and mentorship to LabWare LIMS team members.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure adherence to project and organizational standards.
- Support project planning, estimation, resource planning, and delivery activities.
- Identify technical risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
- Promote knowledge sharing, continuous improvement,
and adoption of LabWare LIMS best practices.
- Coordinate with geographically distributed teams and vendors when required.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 8–10 years of hands-on experience in LabWare LIMS development, configuration, customization, implementation, integration, and support.
- Demonstrated experience in a technical lead or senior LIMS role, with responsibility for solution design and technical delivery.
- Experience leading LabWare LIMS projects or major enhancements from requirements through implementation and production support.
- Experience working with laboratory, quality, IT, and business stakeholders in a regulated environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on expertise in LabWare LIMS, including configuration, customization, workflows, modules, scripting, and implementation.
- Strong understanding of LabWare LIMS architecture and integration capabilities.
- Experience with LabWare LIMS scripting/programming and programming languages such as JavaScript, C#, or Java.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database technologies such as MS SQL Server.
- Experience designing and implementing integrations using REST/SOAP web services, APIs, XML, database interfaces, or similar technologies.
- Experience integrating LabWare LIMS with laboratory and enterprise systems such as Empower, CDS, ERP, and related applications.
- Strong experience with LIMS testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, upgrades, and production support.
- Experience with version/release management and change control processes.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
