Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer/Software Architect for their Merchant Acceptance Program. The role involves designing and architecting scalable, cloud-native microservices-based solutions for global payment systems. The successful candidate will drive overall architecture, design enterprise-grade APIs, ensure high availability and system resiliency, provide technical leadership and mentorship, and collaborate with senior technical and product leaders.

Merchant Acceptance Program consists of products and solutions that aim to increase Mastercard's acceptance footprint and improve the quality of cardholder experience at the point of interaction.

Role

- Drive the overall architecture using deep expertise in microservices-based architectures for the fintech industry
- Ensure solutions use modern cloud-native architecture design principles
- Design enterprise-grade APIs for services that follow Mastercard best practices
- Design and maintain technical blueprints and service descriptions for solutions
- Incorporate high-availability and system resiliency into solutions to maximize uptime and capacity
- Partner with senior technical and product leaders to deliver on designs
- Perform reviews to ensure teams are following architectural designs
- Collaborate with service architects, development teams, operations, and product owners




- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams and service architects
- Represent the program as the primary architect and technical advocate with other groups within Mastercard
- Partner with the Architecture and Technology team to leverage best practices in global-scale systems, including on-soil and cloud deployment scenarios

Requirements

- More than 12 years of rich product engineering experience designing scalable software solutions
- Exceptional foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, microservices-based software architecture, and web applications
- Demonstrated experience architecting solutions based on containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies
- Strong system design skills
- Experience architecting and designing high-transaction-volume financial systems that operate at global scale with extreme uptime requirements
- Extensive experience designing and building global-scale back-end microservices using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Deep understanding of storage technologies such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server at massive scale
- Deep experience with cloud-native technologies and best practices, including Azure and AWS
- Experience with automated testing and continuous delivery using Git
- Experience with web technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks such as Angular or React (nice to have)
- Solid desire to collaborate and provide mentorship to technology teams
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment focused on continuous improvement
