Role Summary The Lead Software Engineer, Reporting & Internal Tools is responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of internal tools, reporting solutions, dashboards, and automation supporting Engineering Operations. The role focuses on building scalable internal applications, developing Jira API-based integrations, automating operational workflows, and delivering reporting solutions using modern visualization and analytics platforms. The role also provides technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to engineering team members.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of internal tools and reporting applications supporting Engineering Operations.
- Develop and enhance dashboards and reporting solutions using MicroStrategy, Metabase, Tableau, and Kibana.
- Design and implement Jira UI/API-based integrations, automation, and reporting solutions.
- Develop and maintain internal applications using Node.js, AngularJS/React, HTML5, CSS, JSON, and XML.




- Develop automation scripts and operational solutions using Python and Bash.
- Work in Linux environments to support application development, automation, and troubleshooting.
- Design and optimize MySQL queries and database integrations for internal tools and reporting solutions.
- Integrate internal tools with platforms such as HMH Box, Datadog, Runscope, and Confluence.
- Lead technical discussions and provide architectural guidance for internal tooling applications.
- Review code changes and ensure adherence to coding standards, security, performance, and development best practices.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on application development and internal tooling solutions.
- Troubleshoot application issues and support continuous service improvement (CSI) initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering Operations, DevOps, QA, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable internal solutions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation for applications, integrations, dashboards, and automation processes.

Required Skills (Non-Negotiable)

- Strong experience with Node.js and backend application development.
- Hands-on experience with AngularJS and/or React.
- Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JSON, and XML.
- Strong experience with MySQL, including SQL queries and database integration.
- Hands-on experience with Python and Bash scripting.
- Good working knowledge of Linux environments.
- Solid experience with Jira UI/API and Jira-based automation or integrations.
- Experience with reporting and dashboarding tools such as MicroStrategy, Metabase, Tableau, and Kibana.
- Experience working with HMH Box, Datadog, Runscope, and Confluence is preferred.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support experience.




- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and internal application maintenance.
- Experience leading technical initiatives, performing code reviews, and mentoring engineers.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
