Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically sound Junior Engineer – Wiring Harness Quality to ensure that wiring harness products meet defined quality standards, customer requirements, and process specifications.
The candidate will be responsible for monitoring quality at various stages of wiring harness manufacturing, identifying defects, supporting root-cause analysis, and coordinating with Production and other departments for corrective and preventive actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections at various stages of wiring harness production.
- Inspect processes such as cutting, stripping, crimping, terminal insertion, connector assembly, taping, routing, clipping, and final testing.
- Verify wire, terminal, connector, seal, clip, and other components against the BOM, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Check crimping quality, terminal locking, connector locking, wire routing, and harness assembly.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections as per defined standards.
- Conduct continuity, short-circuit, resistance, and electrical testing using appropriate testing equipment.
- Ensure proper identification and segregation of rejected/non-conforming products.
- Record and report quality defects, rejection, rework, and process abnormalities.
- Support root-cause analysis for internal quality issues using 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and other problem-solving tools.
- Coordinate with Production to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor process compliance and ensure operators follow approved work instructions and quality standards.
- Support preparation and maintenance of quality records, inspection reports, check sheets, and other documentation.
- Participate in First Piece Inspection / First Off approval and process validation activities.
- Support customer complaint analysis and corrective action activities when required.
- Assist in PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA,
SPC, and other quality documentation.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), engineering changes, and trial production activities.
- Monitor and support implementation of 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper calibration and usage of measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Coordinate with Production, PPC, Stores, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures, safety requirements, and applicable customer standards.
Required Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of automotive wiring harness quality and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of wires, terminals, connectors, seals, clips, and other harness components.
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
- Knowledge of crimping standards and crimp quality inspection.
- Basic knowledge of electrical testing and harness testing equipment.
- Knowledge of 7 QC Tools, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Analysis, and basic problem-solving techniques.
- Basic knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, SPC, and MSA is preferred.
- Positive knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 will be an added advantage.
