About OXMIQ
OXMIQ designs GPU and AI silicon for large-scale model inference and training and is developing an infrastructure and AI service orchestration platform that runs on heterogeneous accelerator hardware.
The Role The IT Lead, India owns the day-to-day health of OXMIQ's office, lab, and supporting IT environments across the India region — the infrastructure through which our engineers, executives, and customer-facing teams get their work done. Based in our Hyderabad office, the role is accountable for the end-to-end operational path — how a system is imaged, deployed, networked, monitored, supported, and retired — across the Hyderabad headquarters and all India sites, and coordinates closely with the US-based AI & Infrastructure organization to keep standards, security, and tooling consistent globally.
This is the senior IT role in India and, to start, a team of one — the IT Lead is the on-the-ground owner for the region. It is a fully hands-on role: the Lead personally images machines, configures the network, onboards new hires, and resolves support issues, and serves as the escalation point for India. the IT Lead feeds regional needs back to the team. As the India footprint grows, this role is the natural foundation for a local IT team.
The IT Lead must also have a working understanding of the AI workloads that run on top of this infrastructure — model serving, AI agents, GPU runtimes — and will collaborate with the platform and engineering teams to deploy, operate, and troubleshoot these services. Background and hands-on experience with these layers is expected; ownership of their delivery is not.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the hands-on owner of IT for the India region: run day-to-day operations across all India sites, and act as the senior point of accountability and escalation for the region.
- Coordinate with the US-based AI & Infrastructure, DevOps, and platform teams to keep security posture, access controls, imaging standards, and tooling consistent across regions; own India-side IT security and compliance.
- Work with the US team on procurement and vendor engagements — scoping local hardware and service needs, coordinating on-site delivery and installation, and executing against contracts and service levels defined centrally.
- Assit with building and maintaining the runbooks, documentation, and operational baseline Oxmiq IT, laying the groundwork to grow as the company scales.
- Cwn the bare-metal imaging and provisioning pipeline for the office and lab fleet, including FOG Server (Windows/Linux workstations) and MAAS (Ubuntu/RHEL servers), golden image management, PXE boot infrastructure, and post-deployment automation for India region.
- Configure, monitor,
and maintain office and colocation network infrastructure, including FortiGate firewalls, switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and site-to-site tunnels (Tailscale, devtunnel, IPsec).
- Patch, monitor, and maintain Windows, Ubuntu, and RHEL systems across the office and lab; manage backups, TrueNAS storage, hardware inventory, lifecycle replacement, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Provision laptops, accounts, and access for new hires end-to-end; maintain onboarding runbooks and standard hardware/software configurations; conduct day-one IT orientation and ongoing user support.
- Configure and maintain conference room systems (displays, cameras, microphones, room scheduling) and support hybrid meetings across Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet for executive and customer-facing use.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain AI agents and AI gateway services (e.g., OpenClaw) across internal infrastructure; integrate with internal identity, networking, and observability stacks.
- Work with team that stands up and operates self-hosted LLM endpoints (vLLM, SGLang, llama.cpp, or comparable) on the GPU fleet; pull, quantize, and validate models from Hugging Face and other sources; manage model storage and versioning.
- Support engineers in benchmarking and evaluating models across NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, and Tenstorrent hardware; monitor GPU utilization, inference latency, and endpoint health; troubleshoot device pairing, drivers, and runtime issues.
- Serve as the point of IT support for the India engineering team on hardware, software, and access issues; document procedures, write runbooks, and contribute to the internal knowledge base.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of system administration / IT experience in a mixed Windows/Linux environment, with a track record of owning end-to-end IT operations.
- Experience as the sole or senior IT owner for a site or region — comfortable operating autonomously, and being the final escalation point without a team in the same region to lean on.
- Comfort working across time zones with a remote (US-based) parent organization, executing against centrally defined standards, procurement, and service levels.
- Hands-on experience with bare-metal imaging and provisioning systems — FOG Server, MAAS, or comparable (Clonezilla, SCCM/MECM, Foreman) — at the level of operating them in production, customizing images, and integrating with PXE/DHCP infrastructure.
- Strong networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, firewalls, DNS, DHCP,
VPN, and the operational realities of running a multi-site network across office and colocation facilities.
- Proficiency with at least one configuration management tool (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and comfort scripting in PowerShell and Bash.
- Hands-on experience supporting conference room AV and end-user IT in a professional environment, including Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet integrations.
- Working knowledge of cloud administration in at least one of Azure, GCP, or AWS, including identity federation and SSO.
- Experience supporting AI/ML workloads in some form — deploying inference servers, supporting GPU workstations, or operating model-serving infrastructure.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with a documentation-first mindset.
- Working exposure to Claude Code or equivalent AI-assisted development workflows, with hands-on use in day-to-day engineering practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FortiGate or comparable enterprise firewalls in a multi-site deployment.
- Familiarity with TrueNAS, ZFS, or other enterprise storage platforms.
- Hands-on experience with GPU servers, HPC clusters, or lab/colocation environments.
- Experience deploying LLM inference servers (vLLM, SGLang, TGI, Ollama, llama.cpp) or AI gateway services.
- Familiarity with CUDA, ROCm, or other GPU runtimes, and with multi-vendor accelerator hardware (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Tenstorrent).
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Identity/SSO administration (Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace).
- Relevant industry certifications (CompTIA, RHCE, Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet).
