Role Description The Elite Justice House LLP is inviting applications for Legal Interns who are interested in gaining practical exposure to litigation and developing a strong understanding of substantive and procedural law.
The intern will work closely with advocates and legal professionals of the firm and may assist with:
- Conducting legal research on statutes, case laws, judicial precedents, and emerging legal issues.
- Researching provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, Code of Civil Procedure, Hindu Marriage Act, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, Family Courts Act , and other relevant laws.
- Assisting in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including applications, petitions, replies, objections, affidavits, notices, legal opinions, written submissions,
and other pleadings.
- Preparing case briefs, research notes, case summaries, chronology of events, and factual matrices.
- Conducting case-law research using reliable legal databases and identifying relevant precedents.
- Assisting advocates with case preparation, document organisation, compilation of authorities, and litigation strategy.
- Observing and, where appropriate, assisting with proceedings before courts and other legal forums.
- Understanding court procedures, filing requirements, limitation, jurisdiction, evidentiary issues, and procedural compliance.
- Assisting in client conference preparation and maintaining organised case records.
- Handling confidential legal information with the highest degree of professionalism and discretion.
- Undertaking other legal research, drafting, and litigation-related assignments as required by the firm.
The internship is intended to provide candidates with practical exposure to legal research, drafting, procedural law, litigation strategy, case management, and courtroom practice , rather than limiting the experience to purely administrative work.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or having completed an LL.B., B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., B.Com. LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent recognised law programme .
- Solid understanding of fundamental principles of Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Family Law,
Law of Evidence, and Procedural Law .
- Sound knowledge of Indian statutes and an ability to interpret statutory provisions accurately.
- Familiarity with the BNS, BNSS, BSA, CPC, Constitution of India, matrimonial and family laws, and other major Indian legislations will be preferred.
- Strong legal research skills and the ability to identify relevant judgments and legal propositions.
- Ability to read, analyse, and summarise judgments effectively.
- Good legal drafting and written communication skills.
- Strong command of English , particularly legal English and professional drafting.
- Working knowledge of Hindi will be advantageous for understanding pleadings, police records, client instructions, and court-related documents.
- Ability to distinguish between facts, allegations, evidence, legal issues, and applicable law while analysing a case.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and willingness to undertake extensive legal research.
- Basic understanding of court procedures and litigation practice will be advantageous.
- Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality and professional ethics .
- Professional attitude, punctuality, discipline, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work responsibly both independently and under the supervision of advocates.
- Genuine interest in litigation, legal research, legal drafting, and courtroom practice .
Candidates who demonstrate strong legal reasoning, research ability, drafting skills, curiosity, discipline, and a serious interest in litigation will be preferred.
