Import Export Technical Manager – Civil & Construction Materials

Job Purpose The Import Export Technical Manager will be responsible for developing and managing international business for civil engineering and construction materials. The role combines technical knowledge of construction materials, export documentation, international logistics, vendor development, pricing, compliance and overseas customer management.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify international buyers, distributors, contractors, EPC companies and construction-material importers.
- Develop export opportunities in markets such as the USA, Canada, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.
- Handle technical enquiries, RFQs, quotations and techno-commercial proposals.
- Review drawings, BOQs, specifications and material requirements received from overseas customers.
- Recommend suitable products complying with project specifications and applicable international standards.
- Coordinate sourcing, manufacturing, inspection, packing and dispatch of export materials.
- Negotiate with manufacturers, suppliers, freight forwarders and logistics companies.

- Prepare export costing including

- EXW

- FOB

- CIF

- CFR

- DDP
- Handle export/import documentation such as commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading, certificate of origin and inspection certificates.
- Coordinate customs clearance, freight forwarding and shipment tracking.
- Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs, GST, FEMA and applicable export regulations.




- Coordinate third-party inspections and preparation of Material Test Certificates / Quality Documentation.
- Develop reliable Indian manufacturers and suppliers for export orders.
- Maintain supplier, customer and international lead databases.
- Follow up with overseas customers for enquiries, quotations, purchase orders and payments.
- Participate in international exhibitions, B2B meetings and construction-sector trade events.
- Conduct market research on construction-material demand, competitors, pricing and import regulations.
- Establish long-term relationships with overseas contractors, consultants, distributors and procurement companies.

Qualification Preferred:



B.E./B.Tech – Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.

Additional qualification in International Business, Export Management, Supply Chain or Logistics will be an advantage.

Experience

5–12 years of relevant experience in construction-material exports, engineering products, steel fabrication, building materials, EPC procurement or international trading.
