: Head – Purchase / Procurement

About The Role

Galgotias University is seeking an experienced and strategic

Head – Purchase to lead the University's procurement function. The incumbent will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, maintaining compliance with institutional policies, and supporting the University's academic and administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.

- Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, purchase order management, and contract administration.

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers.

- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.

- Manage procurement for academic departments, laboratories, IT infrastructure, construction projects, furniture, equipment, and general administrative requirements.

- Ensure timely procurement and uninterrupted availability of materials and services.

- Monitor vendor performance through regular evaluations and maintain strong supplier relationships.

- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements.

- Prepare annual procurement budgets and monitor procurement expenditure.

- Implement inventory optimization strategies to minimize wastage and avoid stock shortages.

- Coordinate with finance, stores, administration,



and user departments for smooth procurement operations.

- Lead procurement automation initiatives and leverage ERP systems for efficient purchase management.

- Generate procurement reports, MIS, and analytical dashboards for management review.

- Build and mentor a high-performing procurement team.

Qualifications

- Masters’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Procurement will be preferred.

- Professional certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 12–18 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management.

- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing large procurement operations.

- Experience in higher education institutions, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing, or large corporate organizations is preferred.

- Strong experience in strategic sourcing, contract management, and vendor negotiations.

Required Skills

- Robust leadership and team management capabilities.

- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.

- Sound knowledge of procurement laws, contracts, and compliance requirements.

- Expertise in ERP-based procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms).

- Strong analytical, budgeting, and cost optimization skills.

- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making abilities.

- High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
