1. Job Purpose

To lead and manage the company's production and purification operations, with primary responsibility for downstream processing, protein purification, chromatography, microfiltration, ultrafiltration and process optimization. The role will ensure productive production, consistent product quality, process compliance and continuous improvement.
1. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Production Management

- Plan, organize and supervise day-to-day production activities.
- Prepare production plans based on business requirements and available resources.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within defined timelines.
- Monitor manpower, equipment, raw materials and production resources.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation of production activities and batch records.

B. Purification & Downstream Processing
- Lead purification and downstream processing activities for biological products.
- Develop, optimize and implement purification processes.
- Handle processes related to Immunoglobulin, Lactoferrin and other biological/protein-based materials, as applicable to the company's products.
- Optimize recovery, purity, yield and process efficiency.
- Troubleshoot purification-related process problems.

C. Chromatography
- Lead chromatography-based purification processes.
- Select and optimize appropriate chromatography techniques and process parameters.
- Monitor chromatography performance and purification efficiency.
- Identify and resolve process deviations and technical issues.
- Support scale-up of chromatography processes from laboratory/pilot scale to production scale.

D. Microfiltration & Ultrafiltration
- Manage and optimize microfiltration and ultrafiltration processes.
- Evaluate membrane performance and process parameters.
- Monitor pressure, flow, concentration and recovery parameters.
- Troubleshoot filtration and membrane-related issues.
- Ensure proper cleaning,



handling and maintenance of filtration systems as per approved procedures.

E. Process Development & Optimization
- Develop and improve production and purification processes.
- Conduct process trials and evaluate results.
- Improve product yield, purity, recovery and production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Support technology transfer and scale-up activities.

F. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure production activities are carried out according to approved SOPs and quality procedures.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for production-related quality requirements.
- Ensure proper batch documentation and traceability.
- Investigate production deviations and implement CAPA wherever required.
- Maintain compliance with applicable GMP, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and documentation of raw materials and finished/intermediate products.

G. Team Management
- Lead and supervise the production and technical team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Train employees in production, purification and safety procedures.
- Develop technical capabilities of junior staff.
- Promote discipline, safety and quality consciousness within the production team.

H. Equipment & Facility Management
- Coordinate installation, qualification, operation and maintenance of production and purification equipment.
- Ensure equipment is used according to approved procedures.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with engineering/maintenance teams.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of critical equipment.

I. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production reports, batch records, SOPs and process documents.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports.
- Analyze production performance,



yield and rejection/rework data.
- Report major technical issues, deviations and production risks to management.
- Maintain proper records for audits and inspections.

1. Candidate Profile

- M.Sc. in Biotechnology or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in purification and downstream processing.
- Practical experience in chromatography, microfiltration and ultrafiltration.
- Experience in handling protein/biological products will be highly preferred.
- Strong production planning and team-management skills.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to independently manage production and purification operations.

1. Authority & Accountability

The Head – Production & Purification will be responsible for the overall performance of production and purification operations and will coordinate with QA, QC, R&D;, Engineering, Procurement and Management to ensure smooth and compliant production. Note: The exact regulatory/GMP responsibilities should be aligned with the company's manufacturing license, product category and applicable regulatory requirements.

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
