Purpose/Objective

The Head - Forest & Environment-Tx is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of environmental and forest clearance processes for transmission line projects.

This role ensures compliance with national and state-level environmental regulations, oversees engagement with regulatory authorities, and mitigates risks associated with environmental and forest land approvals.

The role drives policy alignment, strengthens legal compliance frameworks, and optimizes approval timelines to support seamless project execution while upholding corporate sustainability and regulatory commitments.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Head - Forest & Environment-Tx Environmental Strategy and Execution: Drive strategic integration of forest and environmental clearance requirements across the lifecycle of transmission projects by embedding regulatory benchmarks into organizational planning, ensuring alignment with national policies and transmission-specific dynamics.

Approve internal frameworks and protocols by reviewing MoEF clearance practices across industry benchmarks and institutionalizing best-in-class standards for FCA, FRA, WPA, CRZ, EIA, and ESZ compliance.

Strengthen strategic positioning by advising management on environmental developments that may impact ongoing or upcoming transmission corridors, supporting agile decision-making.

Risk Management: Minimize project approval risks by evaluating route alignment strategies for ecological sensitivity and providing directional inputs to avoid protected zones, ensuring timely clearance readiness.

Support business development strategy by vetting environmental risks in proposed transmission alignments and recommending cost-effective mitigation plans to improve bid competitiveness and risk-adjusted returns.

Forest Approvals Management:



Enable timely clearances by reviewing and approving all major submissions related to forest, wildlife, CRZ, and ESZ approvals on Parivesh and other platforms, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory expectations.

Guide strategic engagement with MoEF, IRO, State Forest Departments, NBWL, CWLW, SCZMA, and EAC by reviewing escalation points and facilitating alignment between site teams and senior regulatory authorities to avoid delays.

Drive accountability across functions by providing final go-ahead on clearance documentation and ensuring cross-functional synchronization for seamless proposal processing.

Governance and Compliance: Ensure strategic oversight by monitoring project-wise clearance progress and identifying bottlenecks, recommending course corrections to safeguard project timelines.

Strengthen regulatory adherence by validating compliance documents and post-clearance conditions before granting internal approval for construction commencement.

Improve organizational governance by reviewing stakeholder engagement frameworks and ensuring consistent escalation, documentation, and follow-up protocols for external interfaces.

Team Management: Strengthen team capability by mentoring leads and managers on evolving regulatory norms, technical standards, and stakeholder engagement strategies, ensuring robust clearance planning and execution across all projects.

Foster a high-performance, compliance-focused culture by guiding structured training initiatives, providing clarity on roles,



and embedding performance feedback systems linked to environmental milestones.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: B.

Tech (Civil) and M.

Tech.

(Environment Engg.

) or desirable qualification having M.

Tech Environment Engineering/ Postgraduate, PhD.

in Environment Science/ Environment Management with recognized by UGC and reputed university.

Work Experience (Range of years): 15-20 years of working experience in Forest Clearance, FRA implementation, NBWL/ESZ Clearance, EIA Study and CRZ Clearance etc.

from MOEF and concerned State authorities and clearance compliances for Transmission line projects.

Strong background in legal and statutory compliances, valuable understanding of Environmental, forest and wildlife clearance Law and Policy & in-depth knowledge of Forest Conservation Act, Forest Right Act, Wildlife Protection Act, CRZ Notification, EIA Notification & EP Act and its rule & regulations amended from time to time
