Position: Sr. Profile GST & Indirect Taxation

Department: Corporate Finance & Taxation

Location: Corporate Headquarters

Reporting To: Group CFO / Director Finance

Direct Reports: GST & Indirect Taxation Team across Business Verticals

GST & Indirect Taxation will be responsible for leading the indirect tax function across the Group's diversified manufacturing businesses, including Primary Steel, Secondary Steel, Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Aluminium, Ferro Alloys, Mining, Trading, and Export Operations.

The role will provide strategic direction on GST, Customs, Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), SEZ/EOU matters, and other indirect tax regulations while ensuring complete statutory compliance, tax optimization, risk mitigation, litigation management, and seamless integration of indirect tax processes across all manufacturing locations and business units.

Educational Qualification

- Chartered Accountant (CA) Mandatory
- Additional qualification in Indirect Taxation, Law, International Trade, or Cost Accounting will be preferred.

Experience
- 1825 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Taxation.
- Minimum 810 years in a leadership role managing GST and Indirect Taxation for large manufacturing organizations.
- Mandatory exposure to Steel, Metals, Aluminium, Ferro Alloys, Mining, Power, Cement, or large process manufacturing industries.
- Experience handling multi-location manufacturing operations and complex supply chains.
- Prior exposure to large listed manufacturing companies will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities
1. Group GST Strategy & Governance

- Develop and implement a robust GST governance framework across all business verticals.
- Ensure alignment of indirect tax policies with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Drive tax-effective structures for procurement, manufacturing, inter-unit transfers, warehousing, exports, and logistics.
- Monitor changes in GST legislation and assess business impact.

1. GST Compliance Management

- Ensure timely and accurate filing of:
- GSTR-1
- GSTR-3B
- GSTR-9
- GSTR-9C

- GST Annual Returns
- E-Way Bill compliance
- E-Invoicing compliance
- Review GST positions adopted across group entities.
- Establish strong internal controls to ensure compliance across all manufacturing units.

1. Input Tax Credit (ITC)



Management

- Drive optimization and safeguarding of Input Tax Credit.
- Lead GSTR-2B reconciliations and vendor compliance monitoring.
- Ensure timely identification and recovery of blocked or ineligible credits.
- Develop processes to maximize working capital efficiency through GST credits.

1. Indirect Tax Advisory & Business Support

- Advise management on GST implications related to:

- Raw material procurement

- Imports

- Exports

- Job work transactions

- Stock transfers

- Captive consumption
- High-sea sales

- Merchant exports

- SEZ transactions

- Contract manufacturing
- Provide transaction structuring support for new business initiatives and expansion projects.

1. Customs & Foreign Trade Compliance

- Oversee indirect tax implications relating to:

- Imports and exports

- Customs duty optimization

- Advance Authorization

- EPCG schemes

- RoDTEP

- Duty Drawback

- Foreign Trade Policy benefits
- Coordinate with logistics, commercial, and export teams for compliance and benefit realization.

1. Litigation & • Tax Dispute Management

- Lead GST audits, departmental investigations, assessments, and inquiries.
- Develop litigation strategies and manage indirect tax disputes.
- Represent the organization before GST authorities and appellate forums.
- Coordinate with legal advisors and tax consultants for litigation matters.
- Monitor contingent liabilities and tax risk exposures.

1. Audit & • Risk Management

- Manage GST-related statutory audits, internal audits, and special audits.
- Conduct periodic GST health checks across business units.
- Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective measures.
- Strengthen tax risk management frameworks.

1. Systems, Automation & • Digital Tax Transformation

- Drive automation of GST compliance processes through ERP systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to strengthen tax controls in SAP, Oracle,



Microsoft Dynamics, or other ERP platforms.
- Develop GST dashboards and compliance monitoring tools.
- Lead tax digitization and analytics initiatives.

1. Team Leadership & • Stakeholder Management

- Lead and mentor GST teams across locations.
- Develop tax capability and succession planning within the organization.
- Partner with business heads, finance teams, procurement, logistics, commercial, and legal departments.
- Present tax updates and risk assessments to senior leadership and the Board when required.
