About the OpportunityWe are looking for a motivated Graduate Engineering Intern – Automation & Controls to join Futuric’s engineering team in Chennai.
Working closely with Futuric’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and engineering team, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of industrial automation and smart manufacturing solutions.
You will gain exposure to real manufacturing challenges and projects across Australia, the GCC, India, and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
This chance is ideal for a final-year engineering student or recent graduate who enjoys solving technical problems, experimenting with technology, and turning engineering concepts into practical solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will support Futuric’s engineering activities across areas including:
- Assisting with the design and development of industrial automation and control system solutions
- Supporting PLC, HMI, sensor, and industrial communication system integration
- Assisting with IoT device configuration, data acquisition, and machine connectivity
- Supporting integration between industrial equipment and Futuric’s NEXA platform
- Preparing engineering drawings, system architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and project records
- Assisting with development of proof-of-concept systems and NEXA engineering modules
- Supporting testing, commissioning,
troubleshooting, and system validation activities
- Participating in remote technical support and commissioning activities where required
- Researching emerging industrial automation, IoT, machine vision, and smart manufacturing technologies
- Supporting engineering investigations and technical problem-solving
- Working closely with the CTO and engineering team on client and internal development projects
About YouYou may be completing or have recently completed a degree in:
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering
- Automation & Control Engineering
- Robotics Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Or a related engineering discipline
Mechanical Engineering graduates with demonstrated interest or project experience in automation, robotics, controls, IoT, or mechatronics will also be considered.
You should have
- A genuine interest in industrial automation, manufacturing, and engineering technology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, control systems, industrial communication, robotics, or IoT
- Good written and spoken English
- An ability to learn new technologies independently
- Good attention to detail
- A practical, hands-on approach to engineering problems
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small engineering team
Exposure through university projects, internships, competitions, or personal projects involving PLCs, microcontrollers, sensors, robotics, IoT, machine connectivity, or industrial automation will be highly regarded. Experience or familiarity with any of the following would be advantageous, but is not essential:
- PLC programming

We are not expecting you to know everything from day one. We are looking for someone with strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn. What You’ll GainThis is not an internship focused only on observation.
You will work alongside Futuric’s CTO and engineering team and contribute to real engineering and client projects rather than simulated graduate training exercises.
