Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose:

Responsible for ensuring maximum uptime, roadworthiness, and safety of the company's own vehicles through planned preventive maintenance, timely breakdown repairs, and effective coordination with the stores/spare parts and mechanical team.

Key Responsibilities:

Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

- Plan and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all vehicles/Trucks/Equipment etc
- Attend to breakdowns promptly, diagnose faults, and coordinate repairs to minimize vehicle downtime
- Maintain maintenance history/log for each vehicle (service records, repairs, part replacements)
- Ensure roadworthiness brakes, tyres, lights, hydraulics, engine, and safety systems are in compliance with standards

Team & Workshop Management

- Supervise mechanics, technicians, and helpers; allocate daily repair/service tasks
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and lifting gear in secure working condition

Spare Parts Coordination

- Raise timely spare parts requisitions to Stores In-charge based on maintenance schedules and breakdown needs




- Verify quality of parts fitted and ensure old/defective parts are returned/scrapped as per process

Compliance & Documentation

- Ensure vehicles and trailers comply with statutory requirements (fitness certificates, pollution control, insurance, permits)
- Maintain maintenance registers, service checklists, and downtime/breakdown reports

Cost & Performance Management

- Monitor maintenance costs, fuel efficiency, and vehicle utilization
- Identify recurring faults and recommend corrective/preventive action to reduce repair costs
- Track vehicle lifecycle and advise on repair-vs-replace decisions
- Prepare periodic MIS reports on downtime, repair costs, and fleet availability

Qualifications & Experience:

- Diploma/Graduation
- 15–20 years of experience in heavy vehicle and trailer maintenance, preferably in logistics, fleet, or transport industry

Skills Required:

- Strong technical knowledge of heavy vehicles and trailers
- Basic computer skills for maintenance records/MIS
- Good communication skills (Telugu/English/Hindi)
