Role Description The Freelance YouTube Video Editor is a remote, contract role focused on editing and producing engaging video content for YouTube. Day-to-day work includes organizing raw footage, editing videos for clarity and impact, adding motion graphics and text overlays, and optimizing pacing to improve viewer retention.

The editor will collaborate with founders and content leads to interpret creative briefs, refine storylines, and ensure videos align with brand guidelines and channel strategy.

Responsibilities also include basic audio cleanup, color correction, exporting in appropriate formats, and delivering versions optimized for thumbnails, shorts, and other social platforms.



The role may involve occasional feedback sessions, iteration based on performance metrics, and suggesting creative improvements to enhance overall content quality.

Qualifications

- Strong video editing skills using industry-standard tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and familiarity with YouTube best practices.
- Experience with motion graphics, easy animation, and text overlays using tools such as After Effects or comparable software.
- Capability in audio editing, including noise reduction, leveling, and syncing, as well as basic color correction and grading.
- Ability to interpret creative briefs, structure narratives, and edit for pacing, engagement, and retention across short and long-form content.
- Reliable remote work practices, including strong time management, responsiveness, and experience meeting deadlines in a freelance or contract setting.
- Knowledge of YouTube analytics, SEO elements (titles, descriptions, tags), and thumbnail strategies is a plus.
- Prior experience editing content for startups, tech, or entrepreneurial audiences is required.
- Portfolio or reel demonstrating relevant YouTube or social video work is required; formal education in film, media, or a related field is a preferred.
