Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Manager to own the group's indirect and direct tax compliance, litigation, and advisory functions. The role combines hands-on GST and TDS compliance with strategic responsibilities such as structuring advisory, tax implementation within products and invoicing systems,
and representation before tax and government authorities. The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator who can partner with business, product, and other stake holders to embed tax correctness into processes end to end.
Key Responsibilities
Indirect Taxation (GST)
- Manage end-to-end GST compliances across the group — timely and accurate filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B,
GSTR-9/9C, and reconciliations (GSTR-2A/2B vs. books, ITC reconciliation).
- Handle GST litigation — draft and file replies to notices, SCNs, audit queries, and appeals; coordinate with consultants and counsel where required.
- Maintain and update litigation trackers for indirect taxation — monitor notices, due dates, hearing schedules, appeal status, and demand/refund positions.
- Provide structuring and advisory support on GST implications of transactions, contracts, new business models, and place/time/value of supply issues.
- Manage GST registrations, amendments, refunds, and department correspondence across states.
- Accounting of the GST output and Input in cross functional enterprise structure.
Direct Taxation (TDS)
- Working knowledge of direct taxation with hands-on ownership of TDS — correct deduction, timely deposit to the department, and filing of quarterly TDS returns (Forms 24Q/26Q/27Q).
- Support broader direct tax compliance and assessments as required.
- Working knowledge in litigation and advisory for Direct Tax Matters.
Product & Systems Implementation
- Drive tax implementation within products,
billing, and invoicing systems — ensure correct GST rates,
HSN/SAC mapping, place-of-supply logic, and e-invoicing / e-way bill compliance.
- Design and validate product logic for TDS deduction and deposit workflows, ensuring accurate computation and remittance to the department.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to translate tax rules into system requirements, test changes,
and prevent compliance gaps.
Representation & Advisory
- Represent the group before GST Officers, Income Tax Officers, and other government authorities on matters related to these functions.
- Prepare submissions, documentation, and case files for hearings, assessments, and audits.
- Advise internal stakeholders on tax-efficient structuring and the tax impact of business decisions.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Solid technical command of GST law, procedures, and litigation practice.
- Working knowledge of direct taxation and practical TDS compliance.
- Experience implementing tax logic in products, ERP, or invoicing/billing systems.
- Proven ability to draft replies, appeals, and represent before tax authorities.
- Proactive, ownership-driven, and organized — able to manage trackers, deadlines, and multiple matters simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective in cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant
- 3–5 years of post-qualification experience in indirect and direct taxation.
- Prior exposure to product/tech-driven businesses and system-level tax implementation preferred.
- Prior experience handling taxation related to derivatives transactions is preferred.
- Strong understanding of applicable tax laws, regulatory compliance, and tax reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
