Required Experience: 10+ years
Job Purpose To lead and coordinate dimensional management activitiesthroughout the product development and manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring thatcomponents, assemblies, and finished products meet dimensional and geometricrequirements. The role is responsible for developing and implementingdimensional control strategies, tolerance analyses, measurement systems, andprocess improvement initiatives to achieve robust product quality, manufacturing capability, and customer expectations while minimizing variation, rework, and warranty issues.
Key Responsibilities
Control dimensional variation from design throughproduction, enabling successful vehicle launches and sustaining world-classmanufacturing quality standards.
Awareness of market trends and developments in order toinfluence and manage the future development of the team.
Develop and implement dimensional management plans for newand existing products.
Support product design reviews to ensure manufacturabilityand dimensional feasibility.
Generate and manage Gap & Flush plans and validationactivities to deliver best-in-class visual quality and fit and finishperformance.
Define measurement methodologies, datum schemes, andtolerance requirements (GD&T;) for Body-in-White (BiW) structures andexterior trim components.
Work closely with stakeholders to define tolerancestrategies and conduct 1D, 2D, and 3D variation analyses to reducemanufacturing and assembly risks.
Perform dimensional variation simulations using 3DCS tovalidate product and process capability against design requirements.
Analyse measurement data and process capability to identifyvariation sources and improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Quality andManufacturing teams to resolve dimensional concerns.
Lead root cause investigations of dimensional and geometricquality issues.
Define critical product characteristics and dimensionalcontrol requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productfit, finish, appearance, and functional performance.
Support fixture, tooling, and gauge development to ensuredimensional conformity.
Maintain the integrity and capability of dimensionalmeasurement systems across all manufacturing stages, from individual componentsthrough to complete vehicle body assemblies.
Establish and maintain dimensional management monitoringactivities.
Drive the successful delivery of dimensional engineeringobjectives, ensuring compliance with programme milestones and qualitystandards.
Take responsibility to mentor, train and develop the DMteam.
