Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically robust Fabrication Unit In-Charge to manage the complete operations of our fabrication unit. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, fabrication activities, manpower management, quality control, material management, safety, productivity, cost control, and timely completion of fabrication works.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, cutting, fit-up, assembly, material handling, drawings, inspection and fabrication quality standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Fabrication & Production Management

- Manage the complete day-to-day operations of the fabrication unit.
- Plan and execute fabrication activities as per project requirements and production schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of fabrication, assembly and dispatch activities.
- Monitor productivity and optimize manpower, machinery and resources.
- Ensure proper sequencing of cutting, bending, fit-up, welding, grinding, assembly and finishing activities.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

1. Technical & Drawing Coordination

- Read and understand fabrication drawings, GA drawings, shop drawings and structural drawings.
- Coordinate with the engineering/design team for drawing clarifications and revisions.
- Ensure fabrication is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
- Prepare fabrication methodologies and work instructions wherever required.

1. Manpower Management

- Supervise welders, fitters, fabricators, helpers, supervisors and other fabrication personnel.
- Allocate manpower according to production priorities.
- Monitor attendance,



productivity and performance of the fabrication workforce.
- Ensure availability of skilled manpower for critical fabrication activities.
- Train and guide supervisors and workers regarding proper fabrication practices.

1. Quality Control

- Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the fabrication process.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspection and testing.
- Monitor welding quality, fit-up, dimensions, alignment and finishing.
- Ensure compliance with approved Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures.
- Coordinate NDT activities such as DPT, MPI, UT and RT wherever applicable.
- Identify defects, implement corrective measures and minimize rework.

1. Material & Inventory Management

- Monitor availability and consumption of steel, plates, sections, welding consumables, fasteners and other fabrication materials.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase departments for material requirements.
- Ensure proper material identification, traceability and storage.
- Minimize material wastage and optimize cutting plans.
- Maintain proper records of material receipt, consumption and balance.

1. Machinery & Equipment

- Ensure proper utilization of fabrication machinery and equipment.
- Monitor the condition and availability of welding machines, cutting machines, cranes, compressors, drilling machines, bending machines and other equipment.




- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair of fabrication equipment.
- Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently.

1. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with company safety policies and statutory requirements.
- Maintain safe working conditions within the fabrication unit.
- Ensure use of appropriate PPE by all workers.
- Monitor hot work, lifting, working at height, electrical and fire safety requirements.
- Coordinate with the EHS/Safety team for inspections and corrective actions.

1. Planning, MIS & Reporting

- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans.
- Monitor actual production against planned targets.
- Prepare DPR/MIS reports covering production, manpower, material consumption, equipment utilization and pending work.
- Track fabrication quantities, productivity and rework.
- Report production issues, delays and resource requirements to management.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in fabrication/manufacturing operations.
- Strong experience in structural steel and heavy fabrication.
- Experience in EPC, power, transmission, distribution, solar, infrastructure or industrial projects will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of welding, fit-up, cutting, assembly and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Good knowledge of QA/QC and fabrication inspection procedures.
- Strong leadership and manpower management skills.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
