- Quality Inspector (Fabrication Works) Industry: Duct Fabrication / Sheet Metal Fabrication / HVAC Projects Position Quality Inspector Fabrication Department Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Reporting To QA/QC Manager / Fabrication Manager Job Summary Responsible for inspection and quality control of fabrication works including sheet metal cutting, bending, welding, duct fabrication, dimensional inspection, surface quality verification, and site fabrication inspection to ensure products meet customer specifications, drawing requirements, and quality standards.

- Key Responsibilities Fabrication Quality Inspection Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspection of fabricated duct components and sheet metal parts.

- Verify fabrication works as per approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

- Inspect fabricated ducts, fittings, flanges, supports, and assemblies for dimensional accuracy.

- Ensure fabrication activities comply with approved quality procedures and inspection plans.

- Monitor fabrication workmanship and identify non-conformities during production.

- Sheet Cutting &
- Bending Inspection Inspect sheet cutting operations for dimensional accuracy and edge quality.

- Verify sheet thickness, material grade, dimensions, and surface condition before fabrication.

- Inspect bending operations for angle accuracy, deformation, cracks, and tolerance compliance.

- Ensure proper nesting execution and material utilization as per approved cutting layouts.

- Check burr removal, edge finishing, and surface quality after cutting and bending operations.

- Welding Inspection Conduct visual inspection of welding joints, supports, frames, and fabricated assemblies.

- Verify welding quality, penetration, alignment, weld size,



and finishing.

- Ensure welding activities comply with approved welding procedures and quality standards.

- Identify welding defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, spatter, and misalignment.

- Coordinate corrective actions and rework inspections for rejected components.

- Duct Fabrication Inspection Inspect duct dimensions, squareness, flange alignment, and assembly quality.

- Verify proper sealing, reinforcement, and joint finishing of fabricated ducts.

- Ensure fabricated ducts meet HVAC and project specifications.

- Inspect duct accessories, supports, dampers, and fittings before dispatch or installation.

- Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of fabricated components.

- Drawing &

- Documentation Verification Read and interpret fabrication drawings, AutoCAD layouts, and inspection documents.

- Verify fabrication dimensions against approved drawings and BOMs.

- Maintain inspection reports, checklists, NCRs, and quality records.

- Prepare daily quality inspection reports and rejection analysis reports.

- Coordinate with fabrication and project teams for quality-related clarifications.

- Site Inspection &

- Coordination Conduct site quality inspections for fabrication and installation works.

- Monitor fabrication activities at site and ensure compliance with project quality requirements.

- Coordinate with clients,



consultants, and third-party inspectors during inspections.

- Verify installation quality and fitment of fabricated duct systems where applicable.

- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented for quality issues.

- Material &

- Surface Inspection Inspect incoming raw materials such as GI sheets, MS sheets, SS sheets, aluminum sheets, and accessories.

- Verify material test certificates and specifications.

- Inspect surface finish, scratches, dents, coating damage, and visual defects.

- Ensure proper handling and storage of inspected materials.

- Safety &

- Compliance Follow QA/QC procedures, ISO standards, and company quality systems.

- Ensure secure inspection practices in fabrication and site work areas.

- Maintain calibration records of measuring instruments and inspection tools.

- Support internal audits and customer quality audits.
