We’re looking for an ESG Rating Analyst for ESG Rated (esgrated.com).

ESG Rated gives companies an ESG rating that people can actually trust. Every rating we issue includes a performance score from 0 to 100, plus a Verification level from A to E that shows how well the underlying data is proven. Our methodology is published, versioned, and applied the same way to every company we rate. The analysts on our team are the ones who make that promise real, and we're looking for one to join us part time.

The role

This is a part-time position built around two responsibilities. Both will carry your name.

1. Reviewing evidence and rating companies

When a company applies to be rated, they upload documents to support their claims: sustainability reports, utility bills, HR and payroll records, policies, certificates, and third-party assurance statements. Your job is to go through this evidence and decide what it actually proves.

You will

· Review submitted documents line by line and check them against our published criteria

· Score each company across our methodology's dimensions (Environment, Social, Governance, Value Chain)

· Assign a Verification level to each score based on how strong the evidence is

· Write explicit notes explaining your reasoning, so another analyst, the company, or a regulator could follow your logic

· Flag anything that looks incomplete, undated, unattributable, or inconsistent

· Work alongside our AI tooling, which helps extract and surface evidence, but every final decision is made by you, not the system

You will never audit a company yourself. If a claim requires third party assurance, we look at whether that assurance was done properly. We do not perform the audit.

1. Fact-checking and reviewing our published content

Before anything goes live on esgrated.com (articles, guides, glossary entries), it needs a second set of expert eyes. You will: · Check every factual or methodological claim in the content against current regulations and our own published methodology

· Make sure we are not overstating anything: no claiming we "certify" companies, no implying a score can be influenced by payment, no absolute claims we can't back up

· Fix inaccuracies without watering down the substance

· Sign off as the named reviewer. We'll credit you directly on published pieces, and feature you on our site as part of the team behind our ratings. This is a real opportunity to build public expertise and a visible track record in the ESG space.

What you will never be asked to do

· Audit a company yourself

· Give consulting or improvement advice to a company you're rating

· Adjust a score for commercial reasons, ever

· Publish something you believe is wrong just because of time pressure

What we're looking for

Must have

· A degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, economics, finance, or a related field

· At least 2 years of experience in ESG assessment, sustainability reporting, non-financial audit or assurance, EHS, or corporate disclosure

· Working knowledge of at least two of: GRI, ESRS/CSRD, ISSB (IFRS S1 and S2), BRSR, the GHG Protocol, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001

· Comfortable telling a company a claim isn't proven, and writing down exactly why

· Strong written English, since your notes and reviews are part of what we publish

Nice to have

· GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, SASB FSA credential, ISO 14064 GHG training, or ISO lead auditor training

· Experience assessing SMEs or supply chain companies, not just large listed corporates

· Arabic or other regional languages

Hours and structure

This is a part time, remote role, and it's project based rather than a fixed weekly schedule. Workload will vary with how many companies are going through the rating process and how much content needs review at a given time. We'll be upfront with you about volume as it comes in, and there's flexibility on when you get the work done, as long as deadlines are met.

What we offer

· Fully remote, flexible part-time work

· Public credit on published content and a featured profile on our site as part of our analyst team

· Compensation is project based and will be discussed directly with shortlisted candidates

· Room to grow into senior review or methodology roles as the company scales

How to apply

Apply through this listing with the following:

· Your CV

· A short critique (one page max) of any public sustainability report of your choosing. Tell us what's well evidenced, what's asserted without proof, and what you'd ask the company for. There's no trick answer, we just want to see how you think.
