Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Safety Officer with 10–15 years of experience in Waste-to-Energy (WTE), Power, EPC, or Industrial Construction Projects . The candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices at project sites, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the project's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management system.
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, Factory Act, and other applicable legal requirements.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Carry out risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all employees and contractors.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and regular safety awareness training.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, prepare investigation reports, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as work at height, confined space entry, lifting operations, hot work, excavation, and electrical work.
- Verify safety permits under the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, fire safety drills, and mock evacuation exercises.
- Ensure compliance by contractors with project safety standards.
- Prepare and maintain safety documentation, inspection reports, incident reports,
and statutory records.
- Coordinate with project management, clients, consultants, and government authorities on HSE matters.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and continuously improve site safety performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
- Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS/PDIS) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.
- Certification in First Aid, Fire Safety, NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar HSE certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 10–15 years of relevant experience in Waste-to-Energy (WTE), Power Plants, EPC, Heavy Industrial, Infrastructure, or Process Industry projects.
- Experience in greenfield or brownfield industrial project execution is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety and commissioning safety practices.
Required Skills
- Thorough understanding of HSE regulations and statutory compliance.
- Experience in HIRA, JSA, PTW systems, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to conduct safety training and awareness programs.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
