Lab37 is IndiGo's internal AI innovation team, responsible for building production-grade technology that drives operational efficiency, customer experience, and revenue growth across the airline.

Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Full Stack Lead Engineer to design, build, and ship high-quality web applications and backend services that power IndiGo's digital products. You will work across the entire stack - crafting responsive, performant frontends and building robust, scalable backend APIs and microservices.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role within Lab37. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and the Head of AI & Research. Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and the ability to integrate intelligent features into full-stack products is a robust plus.

Key Responsibilities

▪ Build and maintain end-to-end web applications - responsive frontend interfaces (React / Next.js) and scalable backend APIs (Python / FastAPI / Node.js).

▪ Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs, ensuring clean contracts, authentication, rate limiting, and documentation.

▪ Own frontend engineering: component architecture, state management, performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

▪ Develop backend services including business logic, database design, caching layers, and asynchronous task processing.

▪ Write clean, testable, well-documented code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage.

▪ Integrate third-party services, internal microservices, and AI/ML model endpoints into production applications.

▪ Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews,



and architecture discussions.

▪ Collaborate with cross-functional teams - Product, Operations, Revenue Management, and Customer Experience - to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

▪ Troubleshoot production issues, optimise application performance, and ensure system reliability and uptime.

▪ Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Must-have Qualifications

▪ 6+ years of professional experience in full-stack software development with production-deployed applications.

▪ Strong frontend skills: React.js or Next.js, HTML5, CSS3/Tailwind, JavaScript/TypeScript, responsive design, and modern component patterns.

▪ Strong backend skills: Python (FastAPI / Flask / Django) or Node.js (Express / NestJS), RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.

▪ Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.

▪ Proficiency with Git, CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions / GitLab CI), and containerisation (Docker).

▪ Good understanding of cloud platforms - Azure (App Service, Functions, Storage) or equivalent (AWS / GCP).

▪ Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Pytest, Cypress) and a strong quality-first engineering mindset.

▪ Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to own features end-to-end, from design through deployment.





▪ B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA / MS in Computer Science or a related field.

GOOD TO HAVE - AI / ML KNOWLEDGE IS A PLUS

▪ Familiarity with AI/ML concepts: supervised learning, NLP, recommendation systems, or deep learning fundamentals.

▪ Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) or building RAG-based applications using frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph.

▪ Exposure to vector databases (Qdrant / Pinecone / FAISS) and embedding-based search or retrieval systems.

▪ Hands-on experience with Python ML libraries - scikit-learn, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers.

▪ Understanding of prompt engineering, conversational AI design, or agentic workflow patterns.

▪ Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data warehousing tools (Snowflake / Databricks).

▪ Exposure to MLOps practices: model versioning, experiment tracking (MLflow / W&B;), and model serving.
