Embedded Firmware Intern to join our team and help build the next generation of smart agriculture devices.
Role Overview As an Embedded Firmware Intern, you will work closely with our senior engineers to developand test firmware for IoT edge controllers, smart irrigation systems, and industrial-grade sensorgateways. This is a hands-on role where you will gain practical experience with highperformance STM32 microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Key Responsibilities
- Firmware Development: Assist in developing and testing firmware on STM32 H-Series (H7/H5) and F-Series (F4/F7) microcontrollers.
- Hardware Bring-up: Support the bring-up and testing of peripherals (UART, I2C, SPI, ADC, PWM)on new hardware revisions.
- Toolchain Usage: Work with STM32CubeIDE, HAL, LL drivers, and CMSIS.
- RTOS Implementation: Support the implementation of multitasking using FreeRTOS.
- Peripheral Integration: Help integrate communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and RS485 (Modbus RTU).
- IoT Connectivity: Assist in working with LoRaWAN, MQTT/MQTTS, and BLE for device provisioning and data transmission.
- Debugging: Use JTAG/SWD, logic analysers, and oscilloscopes to debug firmware and hardware issues.
- Optimisation:
Support efforts in memory (Flash/RAM) and CPU utilisation optimisation.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electronics, E&TC;, Computer Engineering,
or a related field.
- Strong foundation in C programming for embedded systems.
- Exposure to STM32 (HAL/LL) or ESP32 (Arduino/ESP-IDF) development.
- Basic understanding of STM32 microcontrollers and peripheral interfacing.
- Familiarity with RTOS concepts (FreeRTOS preferred).
- Strong debugging mindset and a "hands-on" approach to hardware.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced workplace.
Good to Have
- PCB Design Familiarity: Basic knowledge of KiCad or Altium for hardware understanding.
- Prior experience with STM32CubeMX and HAL libraries.
- Basic knowledge of LoRaWAN or other wireless communication protocols.
- Experience with PCB debugging and hardware-level troubleshooting.
- Passion for agricultural or industrial automation systems
