Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical & Maintenance Manager to lead the electrical, mechanical and plant maintenance function at our Chikhli manufacturing facility.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability, minimum production downtime, preventive and predictive maintenance, breakdown management, plant utilities, maintenance planning, spare-parts management and maintenance team supervision.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in FMCG, food processing, food & beverage or manufacturing plant maintenance, along with the ability to independently manage plant maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Maintenance Management

- Take overall responsibility for electrical and maintenance activities across the manufacturing facility.
- Ensure maximum availability and reliability of production machinery and plant equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Plan maintenance activities in coordination with Production and Operations teams.
- Minimise equipment downtime and ensure quick resolution of breakdowns.
- Analyse recurring breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Establish maintenance SOPs, checklists and equipment maintenance standards.
- Maintain detailed equipment history and maintenance records.

Electrical Systems & Engineering

- Oversee maintenance of electrical distribution systems, panels, MCCs, motors, control systems and plant electrical infrastructure.
- Ensure reliable power distribution across production and utility areas.
- Monitor electrical equipment performance and identify potential failures.
- Supervise troubleshooting of complex electrical faults.
- Ensure proper maintenance of electrical systems and critical plant equipment.
- Coordinate installation, commissioning and modification of electrical systems and machinery.
- Review electrical loads, equipment requirements and plant expansion requirements.

Production Machinery Maintenance

- Oversee maintenance of production, processing and packaging machinery.
- Coordinate with Production to identify and resolve machine performance issues.
- Ensure critical production equipment is maintained according to defined schedules.
- Monitor machine downtime and identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for repeated machinery failures.
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to improve equipment reliability.

Utilities & Infrastructure

- Oversee maintenance of major plant utilities and supporting infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors and other utility systems.
- Ensure reliable operation of essential plant services.




- Coordinate with specialist vendors and service providers for utility and equipment maintenance.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in energy consumption and plant efficiency.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Develop annual, monthly and weekly preventive maintenance plans.
- Ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance activities.
- Introduce predictive maintenance practices where applicable.
- Monitor equipment health and identify early signs of failure.
- Review preventive maintenance effectiveness and make improvements where required.
- Maintain critical equipment lists and define appropriate maintenance frequencies.

Breakdown & Downtime Management

- Lead response to major electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
- Ensure rapid restoration of production following equipment failures.
- Track machine downtime and identify major causes.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical or recurring breakdowns.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Report major breakdowns and downtime trends to management.

Spare Parts & Maintenance Inventory

- Plan and maintain adequate stock of critical electrical and mechanical spare parts.
- Identify critical spares and establish minimum stock levels.
- Monitor consumption of maintenance spares.
- Coordinate with Procurement for timely purchase of required components.
- Control maintenance inventory costs without compromising equipment reliability.

Team Management

- Lead and supervise electricians, technicians, maintenance executives and other engineering personnel.
- Allocate daily maintenance responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Train and develop maintenance staff on equipment, safety and troubleshooting practices.
- Establish shift-wise maintenance coverage as required.
- Ensure adherence to maintenance SOPs and safety standards.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Warehouse, Procurement and other departments.

Vendor & Contractor Management

- Manage external maintenance contractors and technical service providers.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure timely completion of maintenance work.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations for maintenance equipment, services and spares.
- Coordinate equipment servicing, AMC activities and specialist repairs.
- Negotiate with vendors where required to optimise maintenance costs.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with electrical and plant safety requirements.
- Implement safe maintenance practices and permit-to-work procedures where applicable.




- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of electrical and maintenance areas.
- Identify and eliminate potential electrical and mechanical hazards.
- Support plant audits and compliance requirements.

Budget & Cost Control

- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Track equipment repair and spare-part costs.
- Evaluate repair versus replacement decisions for critical equipment.
- Implement energy and maintenance cost optimisation initiatives.

Reporting & MIS

- Prepare regular maintenance reports for management.
- Monitor key maintenance KPIs including:

- Machine downtime

- Breakdown frequency
- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
- Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)

- Preventive maintenance completion

- Maintenance cost

- Equipment availability
- Present maintenance performance and improvement plans to senior management.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in plant engineering and maintenance.
- Strong experience in FMCG, food processing, food & beverage or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of industrial electrical systems and plant machinery.
- Experience managing preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
- Experience managing maintenance teams and external vendors.
- Good understanding of plant utilities and production machinery.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and industrial maintenance standards.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and maintenance/ERP systems.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Candidates with experience in food processing/FMCG manufacturing plants will be strongly preferred.
- Experience handling automated production and packaging lines will be an advantage.
- Should have experience independently managing maintenance operations for a manufacturing plant.
- Robust leadership and team-management skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
- Good planning, coordination and decision-making skills.
- Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Candidates who can join within a short notice period will be preferred.
