Hiring | Payroll Shared Services Lead – India | Noida

We are looking for a seasoned Payroll Shared Services Leader to lead end-to-end, high-volume in-house payroll operations for ~30,000 employees across India .

This is a critical leadership role for an experienced payroll skilled who has managed large-scale payroll operations, statutory compliance, payroll accounting, controls, automation, and large teams in a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

? End-to-End Payroll Operations

- Lead monthly in-house payroll processing for ~35,000 employees.
- Ensure 100% accuracy, timely processing, and salary disbursement .
- Oversee payroll inputs including salary revisions, bonuses, incentives, reimbursements and Full & Final settlements.
- Establish robust payroll governance, calendars, controls and SLAs.

? Statutory Compliance & Tax

- Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, Professional Tax, TDS, Labour Welfare Fund and other applicable regulations.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual statutory filings.
- Ensure readiness for evolving Labour Code requirements .
- Lead payroll-related statutory audits, tax assessments and regulatory reviews.

? Payroll Accounting & Reconciliation

- Own payroll accounting, accruals and GL postings .
- Drive payroll reconciliation, variance analysis and balance-sheet tie-outs.
- Partner closely with Controllership, Finance, Tax and R2R teams .

? Process Excellence & Automation

- Drive payroll transformation, standardization and automation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual interventions and improve payroll cycle efficiency.




- Standardize processes across multiple business units/entities.
- Lead payroll system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.

? Systems, Data & Controls

- Manage payroll operations on SAP S/4HANA / SAP or similar enterprise payroll platforms .
- Ensure payroll data integrity, confidentiality and complete audit trails.
- Strengthen maker-checker controls, access governance and segregation of duties.

? Employee Experience

- Lead payroll helpdesk and query-resolution mechanisms with defined TATs.
- Improve employee understanding of salary components, taxation, deductions and payslips.
- Build a strong employee-centric payroll service model with minimal escalations.

? Risk, Audit & Governance

- Establish robust controls to prevent payroll errors, leakages and compliance risks.
- Ensure preparedness for internal, statutory and SOX audits , where applicable.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational, compliance and financial risks.

? Leadership & Stakeholder Management

- Lead and develop a large payroll operations team .
- Drive workforce planning, productivity, capability development and succession planning.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Tax, Business and senior leadership.
- Provide leadership dashboards covering payroll costs, trends, variances, productivity and key operational metrics.





What We're Looking For

- 15+ years of overall experience , with deep expertise in India payroll operations .
- Proven experience managing large-scale in-house payroll for 20,000+ employees .
- Strong understanding of Indian payroll statutory compliance, taxation and labour regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll accounting, GL integration and reconciliation .
- Experience with SAP / S/4HANA, Workday or similar enterprise HR/payroll systems .
- Strong track record in payroll transformation, automation, standardization and process stabilization .
- Experience leading large payroll teams in a shared services / captive / enterprise environment.
- Strong governance, controls, audit and risk-management orientation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Qualification

- Graduate / Postgraduate in Finance, HR or a related discipline .
- CA / MBA preferred , but not mandatory.

Ideal Candidate Profile We are particularly interested in leaders who have managed 20,000–30,000+ employee payrolls in-house , rather than professionals whose experience has been primarily limited to payroll outsourcing/vendor management.
