The Assistant/Deputy Manager Project Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, coordination, and delivery of projects, covering civil, electrical, mechanical/MEP and associated infrastructure requirements. The role will involve managing project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, vendors, contractors and multiple stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered within the defined time, cost and quality parameters.
The primary duties and responsibilities of a Project Manager include the following:
- Initiating the project, planning and outlining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Establishing and maintaining communication with the project team, management and collaborators.
- Coordinating project meetings and decision-making processes.
- Executing the work, coordinating and supervising contractors, consultants and project teams, and ensuring that they have the resources required for timely delivery.
- Taking ownership of projects from initiation through completion, including coordination of civil, electrical, mechanical/MEP and finishing works.
- Completing the project and creating required documentation and reports for management.
The ideal candidate will have robust technical knowledge in civil, electrical and/or mechanical engineering, with practical experience in MEP management and end-to-end project execution. Candidates from a Civil Engineering background with strong exposure to electrical, mechanical/MEP and overall project management will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of office space construction, renovation, expansion and infrastructure projects, including design coordination, approvals, contractor management, execution and on-site supervision.
- Coordinate and oversee civil, electrical, mechanical/MEP,
plumbing, HVAC, fire & safety and other associated project activities to ensure integrated project execution.
- Prepare detailed project schedules, BOQs, and budgets; track progress against timelines and cost parameters.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth execution of civil and finishing works.
- Review and validate design drawings, technical specifications, and layout plans to ensure alignment with functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Monitor daily site activities to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular project review meetings with stakeholders and contractors to track progress, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure timely completion.
- Evaluate material specifications and approve samples for civil, flooring, paint, and finishing materials in coordination with management.
- Implement quality assurance processes, testing protocols, and documentation for civil and structural works.
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance during construction, including building permits, safety audits, and site inspections.
- Manage renovation and upgrade projects for existing infrastructure in coordination with facility teams.
- Maintain project documentation including progress reports, material usage, and cost summaries for management review.
- Supervise interior fit-out works including partitions,
cabins, workstations, ceilings, and furniture installations for office spaces.
- Ensure design alignment, efficient space utilization, and timely completion with high-quality standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for layout implementation and finishing works.
- Oversee plumbing, sanitary, and drainage systems for both new and existing facilities.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely rectification of issues.
- Monitor water usage efficiency and ensure system reliability through regular Government & Statutory Coordination
- Liaise with local authorities for construction-related approvals, inspections, and statutory compliance.
- Handle documentation related to building permits, occupancy certificates, and utility connections.
- Ensure alignment with safety, fire, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare detailed scope of work, evaluate vendor proposals, and recommend suitable contractors/vendors.
- Initiate and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs), ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Verify work completion, certify vendor bills, and assist in timely processing of payments.
- Maintain cost control and ensure project expenses align with approved budgets.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- 5–8 years of experience in civil construction and MEP management, preferably in IT/corporate environments.
- Hands-on experience managing large-scale construction or expansion projects.
- Proficiency in project scheduling, vendor management, and site supervision.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, and Excel-based reporting.
- Familiarity with local authority approvals and compliance requirements.
