We are looking for a seasoned Data Governance Architect to drive enterprise-wide data governance, data quality, security, compliance, and analytics governance initiatives. The role will focus on establishing scalable governance frameworks and implementing governance capabilities across modern cloud data platforms, with robust emphasis on Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog.

The ideal candidate should have a strong combination of data governance expertise, hands-on Databricks experience, access management, IT controls/audit knowledge, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and implement enterprise Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.
- Architect and implement data governance capabilities using Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog.
- Manage and govern catalogs, schemas, tags, metadata, lineage, data classification, and access policies.
- Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS), column masking, RBAC, ABAC, and other data security controls.
- Establish effective processes for data access requests, approvals, provisioning, reviews, and revocation.
- Work with security, risk, audit, and compliance teams to implement and maintain SOX and ITGC controls.
- Define data classification standards for PII, confidential, sensitive, and business-critical data.
- Support internal and external audits by providing appropriate control documentation and audit evidence.
- Establish enterprise Data Quality standards, rules, KPIs, monitoring, and remediation processes.




- Implement data quality monitoring using Databricks DQX, Lakehouse Monitoring, or similar capabilities.
- Define and govern data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, and accountability across critical data domains.
- Partner with data engineering and architecture teams to embed governance into Lakehouse and modern data platform architectures.
- Provide governance guidance for Bronze, Silver, and Gold / Medallion architecture.
- Support enterprise adoption and integration of data catalog/governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Ataccama, or Alation.
- Establish and govern CAB/change-management processes for data and platform changes.
- Identify data governance gaps, risks, and control deficiencies and drive remediation.
- Collaborate with business, technology, security, risk, compliance, and audit stakeholders to ensure effective governance adoption.

Mandatory Skills
- 16–19 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, IT Controls/Audit, Data Management, or Analytics Governance.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Unity Catalog
- Catalogs and schemas
- Tags and metadata
- Data lineage
- Row-Level Security (RLS)
- Column masking
- RBAC / ABAC
- Experience with access management and PAR processes.
- Good understanding of CAB and change-management processes.
- Strong experience with SOX / ITGC controls and audit requirements.
- Experience with data classification and PII governance.
- Experience preparing and maintaining audit evidence and control documentation.
- Strong understanding of Data Quality governance and monitoring.
