About the role

We are looking for a cyber security intern to join us remotely. This is a training-first internship: you will be guided through structured learning across core security areas, and take on supporting work as your capability develops. The emphasis in the early stage is on building solid fundamentals and demonstrating consistent progress.

This suits someone early in their security career who has been teaching themselves through CTFs, home labs, and self-study, and now wants structured work with feedback on it.

Responsibilities

Learn and apply security fundamentals across web application security, network basics, and secure configuration, working in controlled lab and test environments.

- Assist in vulnerability assessment, basic security testing, and remediation follow-ups.
- Help maintain security documentation, checklists, standard operating procedures, and reports.
- Help monitor security events and perform basic log review and analysis.
- Build a working understanding of how applications are deployed and hosted — web servers, domains and DNS, SSL/TLS certificates, and basic cloud hosting — and where security issues commonly arise in each.

Qualifications

Required

- Understanding of core security concepts: confidentiality, integrity and availability, authentication versus authorisation, and common attack types.




- Familiarity with common web application vulnerabilities at the level of the OWASP Top 10.
- Comfortable working on Linux and the command line.
- Able to explain what you find or learn in easy, clear writing — this is what your daily updates and any reports will be built on.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote setup: making steady progress on your own and asking good questions when you are stuck.
- Basic familiarity with Git and GitHub.

Nice to have

- CTF participation or a public writeup portfolio.
- Basic scripting in Python or Bash.
- Exposure to hosting and deployment: AWS, Azure, GCP, or any other cloud platform.
- Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, ports and services, firewalls.
- Hands-on familiarity with tools such as Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Nmap, or Wireshark.
- An active GitHub profile with projects, scripts, or writeups.

How we work :-

This is a fully remote internship. The early phase is structured training rather than live work, so we can build your foundations properly before you take on anything hands-on. You will share a short written update at the end of each working day covering what you studied or worked on, what you understood, and where you got stuck.

This is how we track your progress, adjust the training to suit you, and make sure you are never stuck alone on something for a week. You will have a named point of contact for questions and regular review of your written work.
