A Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for strengthening security infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities, and protecting applications, systems, networks, and data from evolving security threats.
The role requires hands-on experience across security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and security engineering, along with a strong understanding of modern enterprise security practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls across applications, systems, networks, and cloud environments.
- Monitor security events and investigate suspicious activities, vulnerabilities, and potential security incidents.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation of identified security risks.
- Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and security investigations.
- Configure and manage security tools including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and firewalls.
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to identify and resolve security issues.
- Perform security reviews of applications, APIs, infrastructure, and cloud deployments.
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Participate in threat modeling, security assessments, and risk analysis.
- Track emerging threats, attack techniques, vulnerabilities,
and security technologies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or security engineering.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment and security testing.
- Experience with SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, or related security platforms.
- Strong understanding of Linux and Windows security.
- Knowledge of cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and common application security vulnerabilities.
- Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Robust analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with DevSecOps and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of container and Kubernetes security.
- Experience with penetration testing or application security.
- Familiarity with threat intelligence and MITRE ATT&CK.;
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, or CIS.
- Certifications such as Security+, CEH, OSCP, CISSP, or relevant cloud-security certifications.
