Who We Are Looking For

MHS is building a science-led skincare brand around:

Nature. Science. Discipline.

We are looking for an experienced hands-on cosmetic formulator who can help us develop genuinely differentiated skincare products—not simply select or modify existing private-label formulas.

The ideal person should be capable of challenging manufacturers, questioning ingredient choices, solving formulation problems and taking a product from concept to commercially reproducible production.

Ideal Experience

Required

- 8–15 years total industry experience
- At least 5+ years of hands-on cosmetic formulation/R&D; experience
- Proven experience taking products through:

Concept → Formulation → Prototype → Iteration → Stability/Testing → Scale-up → Commercial Production

- Experience working with multiple cosmetic manufacturing facilities
- Experience in:
- Facial cleansers
- Serums/treatment products
- Moisturizers/emulsions
- Sunscreens
- Active ingredients
- Surfactant systems
- Preservation systems
- pH optimization
- Stability
- Packaging compatibility
- Scale-up and technology transfer
- Working knowledge of Indian cosmetic regulations and applicable standards
- Ability to evaluate and challenge manufacturer-proposed formulations
- Strong understanding of formulation trade-offs, ingredient compatibility and product performance
- Experience solving real-world formulation failures and manufacturing problems

Education Preferred — but NOT the primary selection criterion

Relevant background such as

- M.Sc. Cosmetic Science
- M.Sc. Chemistry
- M.Sc. Pharmaceutical Sciences
- M.Pharm / Pharmaceutics
- B.Pharm / related formulation discipline
- Cosmetic Technology / related science

What matters more than the degree Commercial formulation experience.

A candidate with an ordinary relevant degree and 10 years of successful commercial formulation experience may be far more valuable to MHS than a PhD with limited hands-on cosmetic product-development experience.

What You Will Do at MHS

1.

Product Development Strategy

Translate MHS consumer problems into technical formulation requirements.

Help define

- Product objectives
- Target skin/consumer profile
- Desired performance
- Sensory experience
- Ingredient strategy
- Formulation architecture
- Testing requirements
- Cost constraints

2. Evaluate Multiple R&D; Proposals MHS may obtain formulation proposals from multiple manufacturers/R&D; teams.

You will independently evaluate them for:

- Ingredient selection
- Concentration/range
- Scientific rationale
- Formula architecture
- Stability
- Safety considerations
- Sensory profile
- Manufacturing feasibility
- Scalability
- Cost-performance balance

You must be comfortable saying: "This formula is not good enough for MHS."

3. Challenge Manufacturer R&D;

You will act as an independent technical gatekeeper between MHS and manufacturing partners.

You should be able to ask:

- Why this ingredient?
- Why this concentration?
- Is this active meaningful in this product format?
- Is this ingredient combination necessary?
- Is the preservation system appropriate?
- Is the pH appropriate?
- What could destabilize this formula?
- Can the sensory profile be improved?
- Can the formula be manufactured consistently at scale?
- Is there a better technical solution?

4. Prototype Development Review and guide formulation iterations based on:

- Technical results
- Stability
- Sensory performance
- Consumer feedback
- Packaging compatibility
- Manufacturing feasibility

5. Testing & Validation

Help MHS determine appropriate

- Stability testing
- Microbiological testing

- Preservation/challenge testing where applicable
- Packaging compatibility testing
- Safety/dermatological evaluation where appropriate
- Product-specific efficacy testing
- Sunscreen testing and substantiation requirements where applicable

You will also help MHS interpret laboratory results rather than simply accepting a manufacturer's report. 6. Scale-Up & Commercialization

Support the transition

Lab Batch → Pilot Batch → Commercial Batch

Ensure that the formula remains substantially consistent when manufacturing scale changes.

Help troubleshoot

- Texture changes
- Viscosity changes
- Colour/odour changes
- Separation
- Stability problems
- Filling problems
- Packaging interaction
- Batch-to-batch variation

What We Value Most 1. Real-world formulation experience

Not just theoretical knowledge.

2. Commercialization experience

You have actually taken products to market.

3. Independent thinking

You challenge assumptions rather than simply agreeing with the client or manufacturer.

4. Problem-solving

You can diagnose why a formula failed and determine the next experiment.

5. Scientific honesty

You distinguish between

"Scientifically supported"

and

"Marketing-friendly."

6. Consumer understanding

You understand that a technically excellent product that consumers dislike using is not a successful product.

7. Cost consciousness

You understand formulation quality and commercial unit economics.

Robust Preference

Candidates who have personally worked on products that are currently commercially available and can demonstrate:

- Product category
- Their exact role
- Development challenge
- Formulation decisions
- Testing process
- Scale-up experience
- Final commercial outcome

Confidential information or proprietary formulas do not need to be disclosed. Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month

Benefits

- Flexible schedule
- Work from home

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Gurgaon, Haryana
