About KaroStartup
KaroStartup began in 2020 as a college Instagram page. Today it's a startup media platform with a 1M+ community and 100M+ cumulative views, built on one thing — telling real Indian business stories with real numbers.
We publish across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and podcasts, with a soft spot for bootstrapped founders and Tier 2–3 India: the builders mainstream business media keeps skipping.
What this role actually is
You'll make content that people stop scrolling for.
Every day you'll find a business story worth telling, decide the best format for it, research it until the facts hold up, and write it so a stranger cares by the second line.
This is not a role where someone hands you a script and you execute it. You bring the ideas. We'll teach you the craft.
What you'll do
- Track Indian startup news daily — funding rounds, pivots, shutdowns, comebacks — and spot the story angle everyone else missed
- Pitch ideas in the weekly content meeting. Bad ideas are fine. No ideas is not.
- Research properly. Company filings, MCA data, annual reports, named founder interviews. Not "I read it in an article that read it in another article."
- Write the copy — hooks, carousel scripts, reel scripts, captions, LinkedIn posts
- Choose the format. Some stories are a carousel. Some are a 30-second reel. Some are a 900-word LinkedIn post. Knowing which is which is half the job.
- Use AI as a tool, not a ghostwriter. Use it to research faster and break drafts. Then rewrite it in our voice, because AI output is never publish-ready.
- Shoot and cut basic video, and build simple designs in Canva
- Read the numbers after publishing. What got saved, what got shared, what flopped, and why.
- You'll probably love this job if
- You're already scrolling all day anyway — Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube — and you notice why a post worked, not just that it did
- You read. Books, newsletters, long-form pieces. Good writing comes from reading; there's no shortcut around it.
- Business genuinely interests you. You want to know how a company actually makes money, what its margins look like, why it beat a bigger competitor.
- You hear a founder's story and instantly think about where the hook is
- Average content annoys you
- Skills we're looking for
Must have
- Robust research skills — you can find a primary source and verify a number
- Copywriting: clear, simple, human. Not corporate. Not stuffed with jargon.
- Curiosity about Indian startups and business
- Comfortable working with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, and similar)
- Ownership — you close the loop without being chased
- Good to have
- Basic video shooting and editing sense
- Basic Canva skills
- Comfortable writing in Hinglish as well as English
- A portfolio, blog, page, or newsletter you built yourself — even a small one
- The honest part Ranking content in 2026 is hard. Everyone is a creator, every format has been copied, and reach isn't handed out for showing up. That's exactly why we hire for creativity and research over years of experience.
You'll write things that flop. You'll rewrite hooks eight times. The people who grow fastest here are the ones who treat that as the job, not as a setback.
What you get out of it
- Direct access to founders and the inside view of how Indian businesses are actually built
- Real ownership of content going out to a 1M+ audience — with your work published, not shelved
- Hands-on training in research, storytelling, hooks, and platform strategy
- Certificate and letter of recommendation on completion
- Strong performers are considered for a full-time role
