Role & responsibilities
- Prepare the Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology suite before scheduled procedures.
- Assist cardiologists, interventional radiologists, and other physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Prepare and maintain catheters, guidewires, sheaths, balloons, stents, contrast media, and other procedural equipment as required.
- Assist with procedures such as:
- Coronary angiography
- PTCA / PCI
- Peripheral angiography and interventions
- Pacemaker and other cardiac device procedures
- Central venous access procedures
- Biopsies and drainages
- Image-guided vascular and non-vascular interventions
- Other Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology procedures as assigned.
- Ensure all instruments, consumables, and emergency equipment are available before the procedure.
- Maintain sterile technique and follow hospital infection-control protocols.
- Operate and assist with Cath Lab / IR equipment, imaging systems, monitoring equipment, and other devices as per training and hospital protocols.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs during procedures and promptly report abnormalities to the clinical team.
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation, transfer, and post-procedure care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, consumables, implants, medications, and equipment usage.
- Maintain proper stock of catheters, guidewires, stents, balloons, contrast, sterile supplies, and other consumables.
- Check equipment functionality and report technical issues promptly to the concerned department.
- Follow radiation safety protocols, including appropriate use of lead protection and radiation monitoring devices.
- Participate in emergency procedures and assist the team during cardiac arrest and other clinical emergencies.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and turnover of the procedure room after every case.
- Coordinate with nursing, radiology, cardiology, biomedical engineering, CSSD, pharmacy, and other relevant departments.
- Follow hospital policies, NABH standards, safety guidelines, and departmental SOPs.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and demonstrate professional and compassionate patient care.
- Participate in quality-improvement activities, audits, training programs, and competency assessments.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Cath Lab Technology / Cardiac Care Technology / Radiology Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Diploma in Cath Lab Technology / Cardiac Care Technology / Radiology Technology from a recognized institution may be considered.
- Relevant certification/registration as applicable.
- Previous experience in a Cath Lab, Interventional Cardiology, or Interventional Radiology department is preferred.

- Good knowledge of Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology procedures.

- Understanding of radiation safety and radiation protection.
