Role Overview

Factspan is seeking an experienced BI Architect to design and lead enterprise-scale business intelligence and analytics solutions for a leading US retailer. The role requires deep expertise across Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and Looker, combined with strong experience in retail data architecture, semantic modelling, performance optimisation and AI-assisted development.

The candidate will define the BI architecture, platform standards, governance framework and modernisation roadmap while guiding engineering and analytics teams through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect scalable BI ecosystems across Tableau, Power BI and Looker.
- Evaluate business requirements and recommend the appropriate reporting, semantic and visualisation architecture.
- Design enterprise semantic layers, reusable metrics, governed datasets and certified reporting models.
- Architect retail analytics solutions across sales, inventory, merchandising, stores, supply chain, customer, digital, marketing and finance.
- Build frameworks supporting executive dashboards, operational reporting, self-service analytics and embedded insights.
- Define dashboard design, accessibility, performance, security and usability standards.
- Optimise complex dashboards, calculations, extracts, data models, DirectQuery, live connections and LookML implementations.
- Lead migration and rationalisation initiatives across legacy BI platforms.
- Integrate BI platforms with GCP, BigQuery, cloud data warehouses, APIs and enterprise data products.




- Establish row-level security, object-level security, access controls and data-governance standards.
- Define CI/CD, version control, testing, release management and production-support processes for BI assets.
- Use AI tools, copilots and coding assistants to accelerate requirements analysis, SQL generation, dashboard development, documentation, testing and quality validation.
- Design conversational analytics, natural-language querying, automated insights, anomaly detection and proactive alerting capabilities.
- Review solution designs, conduct architecture governance and resolve performance or scalability issues.
- Mentor BI developers, analysts and technical leads while collaborating with US-based business and technology stakeholders.

Required Expertise

- 9+ years of BI, analytics and data architecture experience.
- Advanced expertise in Tableau, Power BI, Looker and enterprise semantic modelling.
- Robust SQL, dimensional modelling, data visualisation and performance-tuning skills.
- Proven experience architecting large-scale retail analytics systems.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, preferably GCP and BigQuery.
- Experience with AI-assisted development, Generative BI or Agentic Analytics.
- Excellent stakeholder communication, architecture documentation and technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications Relevant Tableau, Microsoft, Looker or cloud certifications; experience with Python, dbt, Dataform, Git, Agile delivery and retail analytics transformation programs.
