Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong backend engineering and data platform experience to build scalable solutions for data discovery, metadata management, data lineage, access control, governance, and observability . The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java and/or Go , experience with data platforms and APIs, and a good understanding of data governance and security.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable backend services for metadata management, data classification, data lineage, and data discovery .
- Build policy-as-code frameworks for automated and fine-grained data access control.
- Develop APIs and self-service capabilities for data discovery, governance, and access management.
- Build integrations across Kafka, Spark, data lakes, data warehouses, and other enterprise data platforms .
- Implement automated workflows for data access, auditability, compliance, and governance .
- Integrate data quality and observability signals into governance platforms.
- Work with RBAC/ABAC , authentication, authorization, and other security mechanisms.
- Develop automation and reusable platform capabilities rather than one-off data pipelines.
- Ensure applications are scalable, reliable, secure, and production-ready .
- Collaborate with engineering, product, security, and compliance teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in troubleshooting,



production support, and on-call activities when required.

Must-Have Skills
- 6+ years of software engineering experience .
- Strong programming experience in Java and/or Go (Golang) .
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, and backend development .
- Experience with data pipelines / data platforms such as Kafka, Spark, data lakes, or data warehouses.
- Strong understanding of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, or Data Classification .
- Experience with RBAC/ABAC and security/access-control concepts .
- Experience building REST APIs and cross-platform integrations .
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with data systems.
- Experience developing automation/platform capabilities .
- Robust understanding of scalability, reliability, and production engineering practices.
- Good experience with Git and CI/CD .

Good to Have
- Experience with policy-as-code frameworks.
- Experience with data quality and data observability platforms.
- Exposure to tools/platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Atlas, DataHub, OpenMetadata, Collibra, or similar .
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP .
- Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Education BE/BTech/MTech/MCA or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
