BA Lecturer – Sociology & Political Science

Job Title: BA Lecturer – Sociology & Political Science

Department: Arts / Humanities

Employment Type: Full time

Reports To: Head of Department / Academic Director / Principal

Job Summary The BA Lecturer – Sociology & Political Science will be responsible for delivering high-quality undergraduate teaching in Sociology and Political Science. The role involves lesson planning, classroom teaching, student assessment, academic mentoring, curriculum implementation, and participation in departmental and institutional activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Teach assigned Sociology and Political Science subjects for BA undergraduate students.
- Prepare and deliver structured lesson plans, lectures, tutorials, presentations, and classroom activities.
- Complete the assigned syllabus within the prescribed academic term and maintain the required teaching schedule.
- Explain key concepts, theories, thinkers, contemporary social issues, political systems, governance, public policy, and related topics in an engaging manner.
- Encourage students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, research abilities, and awareness of current social and political developments.
- Prepare assignments, quizzes, presentations, internal assessments, question papers, and other academic activities.
- Conduct examinations and evaluate student performance fairly and systematically.
- Maintain accurate student attendance, assessment records, academic documentation, and lesson records.
- Provide academic guidance, mentoring, and career-related support to students.
- Use case studies, discussions, debates, group activities, current affairs, and digital resources to enhance student learning.




- Integrate relevant contemporary social, political, economic, and cultural issues into classroom discussions.
- Participate in faculty meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, orientation programmes, and college events.
- Contribute to curriculum development, academic planning, course reviews, and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Support student development activities, academic counselling, and institutional programmes when required.
- Maintain professional standards and comply with college policies, academic regulations, and institutional procedures.
- Perform other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or management.

Educational Qualifications

- Master’s Degree in Sociology, Political Science, or a relevant discipline from a recognised university.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Political Science, or a related field.
- Relevant teaching qualification, eligibility certification, or regulatory requirements, where applicable.
- Candidates with NET/SET/PhD or equivalent academic qualifications will be preferred, subject to applicable regulations.

Experience

- Previous teaching experience in a college or university is preferred.
- Freshers with strong academic qualifications and good communication and teaching skills may also be considered.

- Proficiency in MS Office and digital teaching/learning platforms.
- Ability to prepare academic materials, assessments, and reports.
- Strong teamwork, professionalism, and time-management skills.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should be academically strong, student-focused, approachable, and passionate about teaching Sociology and Political Science. The candidate should be able to connect theoretical concepts with real-world social and political developments and create an engaging learning environment for BA students. Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
