Avionics Embedded Software Engineer (Bare-Metal Firmware)
? We’re Hiring: Avionics Embedded Software Engineer (Bare-Metal Firmware)
Company: Qubist Solutions
Location: Bangalore (Onsite)
Employment Type: Full-Time
At Qubist Solutions, we are building the next generation of flight-critical systems. We are looking for a highly skilled Avionics Embedded Software Engineer who lives and breathes bare-metal firmware. If you love working at the intersection of hardware and software—and understand the rigorous safety requirements of the aviation industry—we want you on our flight crew.
?️ What You’ll Do
- Design & Develop: Write highly efficient, deterministic, and reliable bare-metal C/C++ code for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Board Bring-Up: Lead the initial software bring-up on custom hardware, configuring memory management, clocks, watchdogs, and bootloaders.
- Driver Development: Develop low-level drivers for microcontrollers and peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553).
- Compliance & Certification: Ensure all software design, code, and testing strictly adhere to DO-178C (DAL A/B/C/D) and MISRA C coding standards.
- Hardware Integration: Work closely with hardware engineers to debug complex hardware-software boundary issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
- Verification:
Create and execute low-level test cases (LLT) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to guarantee flawless system performance.
? What We’re Looking For
- Education: BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5+ years of qualified experience in embedded firmware development.
- Core Skills: Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ in a bare-metal (No-OS) environment.
- Architecture Knowledge: Deep understanding of modern microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex-M/R, PowerPC, DSPs) and memory constraints.
- Avionics Standards: Proven experience with DO-178B/C certification processes and MISRA coding guidelines.
- Hands-On Debugging: Extremely comfortable in the lab probing boards and reading schematics.
? Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with aviation-specific data buses (ARINC-429, ARINC-664/AFDX, MIL-STD-1553).
- Familiarity with DO-254 (hardware certification guidelines).
- Scripting experience in Python for test automation.
- Experience transitioning systems from bare-metal to RTOS environments (VxWorks, FreeRTOS, Zephyr).
