SaaS platforms, AI-powered solutions, and enterprise software for UK public sector and enterprise clients.

As we grow our India delivery centre, we are looking for an Automation Test Engineer who takes genuine pride in crafting robust test frameworks that ship confidence alongside every release.

02 ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer to join our growing engineering team in India. You will design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks using Selenium and Playwright, integrate them into our Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and work hand-in-hand with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure every release meets the highest quality bar.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will write real test code, own test strategy for your squads, and have a measurable impact on the speed and reliability of our delivery. You will also work directly with UK-based client stakeholders on UAT coordination and defect triage.

03 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Design and build end-to-end automated test frameworks from scratch using Selenium WebDriver and Playwright, following best practices for maintainability and reuse.

2. Write, maintain, and extend automated test suites covering functional, regression, integration, and API layers across web and hybrid application surfaces.

3. Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, ensuring tests run on every build and results are visible to the whole team.
4. Work closely with developers and BAs to review user stories and acceptance criteria, translating them into test scenarios and executable test cases early in the sprint.

5. Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or Playwright's API testing capabilities to validate backend services and data contracts.
6. Conduct exploratory and manual testing where automation does not yet provide coverage, and drive test coverage improvement plans.

7. Triage and investigate defects, working with development teams to reproduce, document, and track issues through to resolution in Azure DevOps.

8. Produce test summary reports and quality metrics dashboards, providing sprint-level visibility to QA health and release readiness.
9. Support UAT coordination with UK-based client stakeholders, defining test scenarios, managing feedback cycles, and tracking sign-off.

10. Champion quality engineering practices across the delivery team including code reviews of test code, pair testing, and shift-left testing advocacy.

05 MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

All of the following are non-negotiable. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience in each area.

Selenium WebDriver

Strong, demonstrable hands-on experience building and maintaining

Selenium-based automated test suites including Page Object

Model (POM), explicit waits, cross-browser execution, and integration with a test runner. Must be able to show real test code from previous projects.

Playwright

Practical experience writing automated end-to-end tests using

Microsoft Playwright including multi-page scenarios, network interception, API testing via Playwright, and headless/headed execution. Playwright experience is now a core requirement, not a nice-to-have.

Azure DevOps

Hands-on experience integrating automated test suites into Azure

DevOps CI/CD pipelines including configuring pipeline YAML,

publishing test results, and acting on build quality gates. Experience managing test plans, test cases, and bugs within Azure DevOps

Boards.

API Testing

Solid experience testing RESTful APIs using Postman (collections,

environments, assertions) and/or a code-based API testing library.

Must be able to validate request/response contracts, status codes,

and data integrity independently.

Test Framework Design

Proven ability to architect a maintainable test framework including

Page Object Model, data-driven testing patterns, shared utilities, and configuration management. Not just using an existing framework but understanding how and why it is structured.

Scripting Language

Proficient in at least one of: C# (.NET), Javascript(typescript), or Python for writing test automation code. C# is strongly preferred given our .NET stack, but Javascript or Python with a clear willingness to adopt C# is acceptable.

Agile / Scrum delivery

Comfortable working within Agile/Scrum sprint cycles attending ceremonies, picking up test tasks from the backlog,



and delivering test coverage within sprint timelines rather than as a separate phase.

06 DESIRABLE / NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS The following will significantly differentiate candidates and accelerate onboarding.

BDD / SpecFlow

Experience writing feature files in Gherkin and implementing step definitions in SpecFlow (C#) or Cucumber (Javascript). Ability to work with BAs and POs to define scenarios in a shared, readable format.

Performance Testing

Hands-on experience with JMeter or k6 for load and performance testing of web applications and APIs. Ability to define performance benchmarks and interpret results.

Mobile Testing

Experience with Appium, .NET MAUI test automation, or any mobile application testing framework for Android/iOS. Relevant to our MAUI hybrid app delivery work.

Azure / Cloud awareness

Familiarity with Azure services AKS, App Services, Azure Front

Door, Application Insights and experience testing cloud-deployed applications including environment-specific configuration validation.

ISTQB Certification

ISTQB Foundation or Advanced level certification. Demonstrates a structured approach to software testing theory and best practices.

Power BI / Test Metrics

Ability to build or interpret test quality dashboards test pass rates,

defect density, coverage trends using Power BI or Azure DevOps analytics views.

07 PERSON SPECIFICATION

You care deeply about quality not as a gate at the end of delivery, but as a discipline woven through every sprint. You are a pragmatic engineer who writes clean, readable test code and is not afraid to refactor a messy framework. You communicate clearly with developers, BAs, and non-

technical stakeholders alike, and you take ownership of test quality rather than waiting to be told what to test.

- Minimum 4 years of hands-on automation testing experience in a software delivery environment
- Solid written and spoken English essential for UK client-facing UAT and defect communication
- Proactive, self-managing, and comfortable picking up new technologies quickly
- Detail-oriented but pragmatic knows when 100% automation coverage is impractical and prioritises accordingly
