Position: Auto Electrician
Department: Workshop / Service
Reporting To: Floor Supervisor / Service Manager
Location: Wincanton Motors – Ashok Leyland Authorized Service Centre
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Diagnosis & Repair
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and electronic faults in commercial vehicles.
- Inspect wiring harnesses, connectors, fuses, relays, switches, sensors, and electrical circuits.
- Identify short circuits, open circuits, loose connections, and wiring-related issues.
- Vehicle Electrical Systems
- Attend repairs related to starting, charging, lighting, indicators, horn, wipers, AC electrical systems, and other vehicle electrical components.
- Check and repair battery, alternator, starter motor, and related electrical systems.
- Diagnose ECU, sensor, and CAN communication-related electrical faults as applicable.
- Diagnostic Tools
- Use approved diagnostic equipment to identify electrical and electronic faults.
- Read and interpret fault codes and follow proper troubleshooting procedures.
- Carry out electrical testing using a multimeter, test lamp, and other required tools.
- Wiring Harness
- Inspect, repair, and replace wiring harnesses as required.
- Ensure proper routing, insulation, connections, and protection of wiring.
- Identify and rectify wiring short circuits and connector-related issues.
- Job Card Compliance
- Attend electrical complaints as mentioned in the job card.
- Record the actual fault, diagnosis, repair carried out, and parts replaced.
- Inform the Service Advisor/Floor Supervisor about additional electrical issues identified during inspection.
- Breakdown & Mobile Service
- Attend roadside breakdown and mobile service calls when assigned.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical breakdowns at the vehicle location whenever possible.
- Coordinate with the workshop for further repairs when the vehicle cannot be made roadworthy at site.
- Quality & Safety
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer guidelines and workshop SOPs.
- Conduct proper testing after completing electrical repairs.
- Follow electrical safety procedures and maintain positive housekeeping in the work area.
- Spare Parts & Tools
- Use electrical components and spare parts appropriately.
- Report defective or required parts to the Floor Supervisor/Service Advisor.
- Maintain and properly use workshop electrical tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Team Coordination
- Coordinate with technicians, Service Advisors, Floor Supervisors, and other departments.
- Support technicians in diagnosing electrical-related issues.
- Assist in resolving complex electrical complaints.

Accountability The Auto Electrician is responsible for accurate diagnosis and quality repair of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, ensuring that vehicles are made safe, reliable, and roadworthy within the committed TAT. Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
